Movie Review: Red Dragon (2002)

This prequel to Silence of the Lambs was a little disappointing. The main character, Will Graham, bordered on interesting, but didn't quite manage to cross over; he could have, very easily, had they included some information from the book (for example, the character in the book ends up in an insane asylum because he connects so emotionally with the psychopaths he hunts; just adding in this little detail would have made him vastly more interesting). Hannibal Lector himself appears very twitchy and harried, rushing through his lines like he can't get them out soon enough. I miss the Lector from Silence of the Lambs who is so calm and in control that you feel like he knows everything that is going to happen. The Toothfairy, the main villian of the movie, is just a meh kind of villian; not really rememberable, not like Buffalo Bill or Lector.

Conclusion: Overall, only worth a watch if you really love Hannibal Lector.
