NOTES: This was originally planned to be written for the Navy Boys Magazine challenge over at anything_aos but due to several reasons didn't get written. Now, heavily reworked, written in the style of a modern magazine article, this is in many ways my way of integrating book and movie canon and is also my very sentimental interpretation of the key stories presented in them.
