It is canon in the world of POB that Barret Bondon was born beneath the great guns of the Indy. I hope he will forgive being placed somewhere less splendid, for the sake of fiction.
This is set in the first week of Horatio’s Naval endeavors.

yes - babies at sea - and this transposed one _ its truly good dramatic licence but I think Bondon would be glad he got the Indy and not the Justinian in his
'real' life :)
Ah -those mystery women of the Indy and their unrecorded lives ! There are some babies certainly born in the 1790s who have at baptism the middle name Pellew, whose fathers are sailors, and I think it is a fair bet that some of them were born afloat and baptised when they got into port .Its also a fair bet that they may well have been given a little start in life with a shilling or two for their mothers - Ned loved kids - his own and everyone else's cubs.
Thank you and how good to set it in Horatio's first week - that is just so right ! and clever Archie and his innocent friend Horatio and all that Archie is already protecting his friend from .and oh -that small high up dissociated Archie -he does make ones heart ache so - even though we know in your universe he has an ultimately bright future.
Thanks for enriching a wet and rainy morning here in England.

I like the idea that there might be some small money given to her for the baby. I expect the sailors might knit a thing or two as well.
This one was fun to write, with Horatio calmly accepting, and poor harassed Eccleston!
