After the Goat Track

There was not much time at all between the crunch of the jolly against the muddy sand, and the exchange of money at the inn counter. Ten minutes at most, Horatio thought. They had not run, precisely. That would have been pitifully ( Read more... )

I am so sorry guys, about the single spacing. i know it is hard to read. I have been having trouble with paragraph editing in the new/old format.
If you want to rest your eyes, the one at my journal may be more easy. I have no idea what has gone wrong, but when I post sometimes the spaces just vanish. This time I was not able to put them back in. Does this happen to anyone else?

I'm using the iPhone app (which basically sucks, but needs must), and the spacing is showing up perfectly for me. What that means, I have no idea, but in case it's relevant....

I read this earlier in the week but didn't have a chance to comment. In fact I read it three times which might be one reason I didn't have a chance to comment! This is really rather ridiculously hot... also how considerate of Archie not to laugh!

Had they not been sent to procure more yesterday they would be on the Indy avoiding Captain Pellew until he calmed himself.
I can totally imagine the entire ship walking on eggshells when Ned was in a temper.

“As he said: The admiralty can go fu--”
And I can totally believe he said the Admiralty could go fu... XD

Also.....

He had not looked away. It has been horrid. It had been --confusing.
Ahem :}

Lemurling wrote a fic dealing with this at some length. It took place in her timeline, before they were an item. I am not sure how the two timelines fit, but her fic explained Horatio's feelings at some length.

I hope the thing with the water barrels seemed believable and not too thin. I had to get them on shore somehow.

As for EP, he is off having what you and Nodbear call a bad hair day!

the more the bad hair day the more eloquent the man became - some of his most elegant turns of phrase cover a burning anger

but I agree that they proabably all kept their heads down when the old boy was annoyed :)

wonderful hot little tale and Archie very skilful here ;) in all kinds of ways

This one was fun to write. i am reading the Taylor bio of Pellew tonight. He is totally entwined, for me with you and Anteros. I can just imagine him trying so hard to keep outrage about one thing from spilling over into everything. Not easy when everything depends on one man!

They're such dear boys. Every moment they can steal is precious. Even with Horatio's dirt-road-rash! (Hope it doesn't get infected. Ouch.)

I imagine that Archie will keep a close eye on the healing process... I imagine half the ship is aware of their 'stolen moments' keeping anything secret would be plain impossible.

Loved it! And yes, I agree - it's nicely hot!
Sorry about relative radio silence. RL and all that. Will be ashore for the next few weeks as well, although should be able to read dispatches.
WEll done once again.

Good to hear from you. I have been having some radio silence of my own the last few days. This one was easy to write.
