Further Proof that Mr. Bush is a Timelord.
(So, I've been a terrible co-mod and it's far too long since I contributed anything to this community. Hoping to make up for it a bit this coming Christmas season.)
I was making my way home by train on Wednesday having stayed overnight elsewhere to perform in a concert on Tuesday evening. Whilst I was hanging about waiting for my connection, my eyes roving over the magazine rack in W H Smith's, I spotted the current issue of Doctor Who Magazine - with a very familiar face on the front cover:
It has been a while since I bought an issue of DWM (I don't get on with Matt Smith and one day Steven Moffat will answer for his crimes) but suffice to say this edition got purchased.
The article itself is quite a nice piece about the next phase of the Eighth Doctor's audio adventures, moving away from the foppish Victorian image of his one and only TV appearance in 1996 and more towards the war-weary veteran of the Time War. My favourite part, however, had to be this quote from Paul about the ideas behind the Doctor's new costume:
"'I was asked whether there was any kind of look that I might personally have in mind,' Paul elaborates, 'so the look actually came from the idea that the men in my family - the McGann men: my father, his father, his uncles, everything - had all been at sea, either Royal Navy or Merchant Marine. I thought, given that the Doctor is a voyager, I wanted something that had elements of both, that was linked in that way. I thought of the peacoat - a peacoat, of course, is a Victorian naval garment - so this is a leather peacoat, based on that.'"
How apt that our Mr. Bush would be taking his inspiration from the Navy. :)
