Oh that's beautiful. I'm really touched by this. You're right, Archie's father did love him very much, his last and youngest. Somehow it all got twisted and hurt though. I'm glad Archie has some good memories to hold on to. I hope his father does too. Thank you so much for writing this :)

I imagined them on that big lawn, under the big sky. And Archie still little enough to be picked up that way. Archie's seizures must have terrified his parents.

Some kids in that situation would have become afraid of the world, or bad tempered and spoiled. Archie, being Archie, just coped as best he could.

This is beautiful. I'm usually not the biggest fan of kid-fics, but this is very vivid and beautifully written. It is indeed a happy memory for Archie, but at the same time the happiest memories can also be the most painful to remember. Bittersweet and lovely.

Delightful as usual.

"He remembered his bare feet in the mud and the edge of his frock"

This appealed particularly - not sure why - perhaps because it's tiny details that are so often remembered with amazing clarity.

Thanks once again for your talents.

Oh, I am so pleased that you like it. I can so clearly imagine child-Archie's little toes in the mud. How wonderful that you can see it too.
