So beautiful, and so much more painful because of course Archie is like the tiger-- and had himself been caged. His rage is one with his compassion.

I don't know how you do it. To boil the essence down to 14 lines-- it is a whole other skill I think.

Hear hear. It always leaves me stunned, how our beloved Nod can just produce these things and they are so...perfect.

Many thanks.

To little avail.

Beautiful. Archie's sorrow, compassion and suppressed rage really shine through. Just as they do in our lovely eglantine_br's latest fic. The tygers of wrath indeed.

Oh yes, definitely! Laid up in ordinary...to quote another of nodbear's wonderful sonnets.

Yes - Archie is having mixed reactions although in the context he is in a good place - admiring the outline of Horatio by moonlight - but the tiger has stirred up a rush of love , pity and anger combined.there is a splendid greek word used in the gospel of MArk splagchnizomai which means to be moved by love and anger deeply - a visceral feeling .
the English often says" moved by compassion" which does not cut it really. i had that word in mind when Archie was at work on this sonnet .

Poor Tiger indeed, I can quite imagine Archie feeling an affinity for the beast.
