Horatio was losing badly in the game of Strip Marbles against the Frog. To make matters worse, he strongly suspected Styles of cheating. Every time it was his go, the boat rocked disadvantageously and now he'd lost yet again. The question was, did shoes count as one or two items of clothing?
Damn, me again. Just saw Anteros' comment and realised I should read the other captions before commenting. Sorry! Maybe I can get away with it by pleading that great minds think alike?
I think you just enlarged on a theme. Poor Horatio. A childhood of playing whist with vicars did not prepare him properly. Mr Bracegirldle could have told him shoes are one item!
A & E department! Here I am trying to remember if I've *ever* read anything about A&E (the co producers or whatever of the HH TV series)and clergy... and - well I knew the costume department were featured in a few DVD extras ... and ... total mental mix up. Then of course I remembered that before EMD, there was A & E, and before that Casualty. At least I *think* that's what you meant, naomi1642. God, I've been in this fandom along time.
As for a caption - not my forte I'm afraid. I'll just larf at the creations of the clever ones, although Styles looks as if he's following the line of his ball down a skittle alley.
Oh, and what is Strip Marbles? Not familiar here in the Anti-poads, and I couldn't even find it on Google, although I can perhaps guess.
Hehe! Strip Marbles is a product of our fevered imagination! You know marbles right? And strip poker? Looks like the guys above have combined the two and Horatio is loosing ;) Yeah, I know it's daft...I'm still tickled that naomi1642 and I both came up with such a silly idea, quite independently! HH Hive Mind?! XD
It does make me wonder what childhood traumas we're both suppressing! Maybe it's because they just look so much like a bunch of schoolboys rolling marbles against a wall, bless 'em.
Alternative caption:
'Luck be a lady tonight...' The French Captain was giving a barnstorming performance in Guys and Dolls but Horatio had taken the character description of 'the gambler who's lost his shirt' rather too literally.

The one on his ankles makes sense to me. But what is going on on his manly torso?
