Oh! As i was falling asleep last night I was thinking of your stories, and I thought that the thing I would like best today was to have another chapter. I got my wish, and this is better than I had even hoped. Archie is revealing more of himself, and Horatio is slowly learning how not to scare or get scared.

The hitting out thing in sleep is actually not unusual, even for people who have never met J. Simpson. In the American Navy, you are not responsible for your actions in the seconds after you wake up. If you hit then, everyone just forgives and goes on. Horatio was lucky not to get his nose broke for him though!

I've been wrestling with this beast for two weeks now. I have a bunch of pieces written for after this, because I was so stalled I just had to move on. Hopefully it won't take as long to stitch those up into the next bit. Lots of Archie backstory coming up, and the whole Kennedy family ( ... )

Mine are cuddly for sure. Its awful though when they won't cooperate with our reasonable plans. I am having that problem with Hunter.

You know I just figured out Archie thinks he deserves to be punched in the face for kissing Horatio. He almost asks for it!

I know you said this, but I was slow on the uptake! Poor Archie.

When Archie said he'd do anything, I also thought about that he would probably find it easier to have sex as some kind of blackmail for continued friendship rather than to have sex because he wanted to... Like in Beyond Duty and Friendship and Lies.

You write very well, and I like that Archie lashed out so much when Horatio tried to kiss him the first time - it would have been totally unrealistic otherwise, the way you had built your story. Still, it was very angst-inducing and I couldn't sleep afterwards! I hope it will turn out all right in the end...

Truly, I'm like the worst slash writer ever. I can make them angst and pine and lust and hate themselves, and angst some more, but I -cannot- make them kiss without violence, sarcasm, self-loathing, or all three in the mix. And I can only get them to cuddle when one of them is unconscious. I've been toying all day with the next set of chapters, and I've finally managed to get Archie naked.... and unconscious.

This is not for lack of trying. I want them to be sexy! They just won't for me. Stupid boys.

Well, it took a whacking dose of laudanum cough syrup (in Just Like Honey, under my tag) to get my Archie relaxed enough to accept a blowjob, after what he'd been through with Simpson; they'd been going ten years on hands and frottage. And pretty well satisfied with it, at that; Horatio didn't really care if he ever got one, but it bothered him that there were places he wasn't allowed to kiss Archie, when he was sure it would be very nice. My Horatio would probably count as gray-asexual or demisexual, anyway; he likes sex with Archie, but it wouldn't have occurred to him to ask for it before Archie asked him, and a lot more of his enjoyment derives from pleasing Archie than it does from whether he's getting off himself. That backrub he gave Archie in Pole Star was as sexual, for him, as anything that involved their dicks.

But mine are very, very cuddly. After The Duchess and the Devil, I couldn't envision them otherwise.

I mean, I realize that RL doesn't always accommodate talented authors and their despairing fans, but that was just a really cruel place to leave us all hanging. *Suppresses urge to give your muse a good kick in the pants and order her to stop her dawdling and get back to work.*
