07 : Another Brick In The Wall (RP with agentdoggett)
This demotion was going to take some getting used to.
You think you'd have done some research before you decided to come down here, Stark thought to herself, shaking her head as she tucked another couple of files under her arm. Her footsteps echoed in the empty basement hallway. But that would be thinking too far ahead. All you wanted was your partner back, never mind that you just jumped into the shark tank.
She laughed at herself as she walked back toward the basement office that she now apparently shared with John and Agent Scully. Stark had been on the X-Files for all of three days; she didn't have a desk and didn't even know where they would put one if she did. She hadn't really thought this through.
Everything had happened so fast. One day she'd been working just another case with her partner of three and a half years. The next day, he's being pulled to go look for Fox Mulder. She'd spent her time on his task force, making phone calls, looking up information, and that godawful trip to the Arizona desert. Not to mention fighting with Gene Crane, who obviously thought he was going to muscle his way into being the big man on campus. But that had been bearable because it was all supposed to go back to normal. Until, of course, it didn't.
John would be a fool to tell Kersh what he wanted to hear, she said to herself. And then he wouldn't be John Doggett either. So there's really nothing to complain about is there?
She stepped back into the office, holding up the files. "I think these are the ones you wanted?" she asked. Then she glanced around the small office with a sigh. "We're gonna be here a long time, aren't we?"
