i got to see my family tonight :) that was awesome. and i got and gave a lot of hugs. i really missed my dog, though. i got some socks 'from the dog' purchased by my mother as always. my dog used to like to steal socks off your feet. i had to leave the room after that.
all of my gifts this year, that i have received, have been really thoughtful. i have not purchased anything, but i believe i want to get my parents a delayed gift of a cat. they are lonely. they also would want a loving animal that is not really high maintenance. i think i will give them this gift when they return from vacation, mid january. i would be willing to adopt the cat if for any reason, anything happened that made them unable to care for a cat.
i plan to call my aunt, as my contact for the entire other side of the family. wish them all a happy holiday [happy ho ho]. normally, christmas day was held there, but lately [since some arguments among family members on my mom's side] there has been nothing. the side of the family has been dying off, bit by bit. in some cases literally. this is the first christmas for me without the dog and without my grannie. i will be working, and that might be for the best.
i think this year so far, the winter and the year's progression as a whole, has taught me to value people's lives. some form of a family, even if your family is your friends. i actually appreciated my relatives a lot this year, and times like that make me really miss but appreciate times in the past. i really wish that gran was still around. and the dog. but i still remember really good times back then. and this year was okay.
brad and i are drinking red wine and hanging out tonight. we don't need to be up early tomorrow, either of us. i'll go to work and it is the weekend. i plan to go to some concerts in the next little while [farm fresh, greg macpherson, the peanuts and corn revue, etc etc], funded by my christmas money. the rest of it will be spend on postage, i am way behind - i'm really sorry. then again, dates don't totally matter. we should be nice and thoughtful to people throughout the year. and expect the mixes in the next little while.
oh yes. i did some work with
http://www.folkypunk.net - blog style [yet another 'movable type' blog but i don't plan to get involved with the cliquey side of things... people can read my site if they want but how they find it is up to them]. i will focus most of my music related information there, and might include some other information. we'll see. but at least it is updated now since april.
happy holidays, all, whatever you do or do not celebrate.
