been babyitting last couple of days...

well, i'm not supposed to call it that.

i work for admissions, hosting high school seniors overnight to get them to like the school. this guy was actually the coolest yet. still lots of akward silence, but he was the first one i didn't want to hurl through my window (4th floor).

i took him downtown yesterday, and we met a couple that lives at the base of the pyramid in hart plaza. weird...
we drove around a while, and walked a little, and finally he asked "where are all the people?" haha... (aaron shakes head) detroit...

last night we went drank some beers and went to the majic stick. i think it was the first time i'd seen some one perform using nothing but his computer.
it was super cool though. the first guy was doing some kind of techno with a slightly industrial feel to it. it got old fast. then lee marvin computer arm played, and i was more impressed than i have been in a while. they're a rock band (no computers). they have a trumpet player (who kept flinging is mouthpiece everywhere), but they aren't ska. they are great. even greater than chicken fries. (actually, i'm firmly anti-chicken fry)

anyway, the headliner was jason forrest -
so he comes on stage and announces that it is monday night, and they party is in front of the stage - "that's where people get naked", according to him. then he says that everyone in the chairs to the back and side are cunts, and they should join the party in front of the stage. so after he gathers a crowd in front of him (without yet playing any music), he says "ok, who wants a beer?". hands go in the air, and he counts about 7 or 9 people, and runs backstage. so we're all standing there thinking "no way...", when sure enough, he comes back through the curtain with his arms full of PBR bottles.
he gave the audience beer.
that's another first for me - being given a beer by a performer currently ON STAGE. (he didn't bother to look at wristbands and black Xs)
so he starts his music and it was super super good.

overall, a kick-ass night....
