They may be resonant but dang these sinuses!

As a voice teacher I often point out to people that your sinuses are part of "the mask" the area in your facial bones that helps to create a resonant tone. But right now!? I'd be happy not to have them ( Read more... )

My big "secret" -- sinus irrigation. I do it nightly for my allergies, and find that even if it doesn't make a cold clear up faster, it sure makes things feel better.

Let me know if you want details.

Sure. Is this the bizarre yoga thingy where you dump water in one nostril and out the other or something? I suppose I could learn that. I used to use saline spray fairly often as I know that is good for singers but haven't been lately. Hmmm....

yes...it's called Neti. And I do it too, though not as regularly as I probably should. It feels really bizarre to do it, but man does it help!

Does saline nasal spray help? It does make sense to me that doing the actual neti thing would work better as it really goes *through* the nasal passages....

Ah. That's different than what I had used in the past which was
just saline spray. O'Cean I think (or the generic equivalent).

But wow - I just read several articles that say nasal sprays are the most effective and underused thing for treating rhinitus and sinusitus but also several cautionary things about a particular preservative in some nasal sprays! hmmm. Maybe this needs a post after some more research.

Anyway - it sure worked! I still have some sinus pressure but a LOT less. Now if I can just work up to the real amount of salt. Yow that was rather like having the top of my head removed. Less salt was a lot better but I read another recipe that said 1 tsp / 1 cup water (and included baking soda - maybe that helps temper it somehow!???) Oh well - thanks!
