okay, just for the record (one more time -- and it will not be the last time i say it) georgette fry is just so bloody amazing. seriously.
i would marry her singing voice and have many babies with it if i could. she sang a song tonight, one i've heard a time or two and actually have more than once cover of on my computer and i was honestly so moved by it that i had to go out for a smoke and then when i was outside i wanted to listen even more and i went back in. it gave me goosebumps and brought tears to my eyes to listen to her smokey rasp. i don't know how she does it but each week she just reaches so deep into the song, and by extension herself. and just leaves it lying there for everyone to see. people do love her and go each week but i'm not sure that they even notice this move of hers. it is so flawless.
my point: this post may not make sense. it could be because it is after 4am or it could be because this woman inspires me so much that i've actually just been writing for hours like crazy and i haven't done that in a long time. perhaps i have found my muse...
and in case anyone was wondering, the song was 'I wanna be around" and perhaps the most soulful cover is the one by james brown...
