Yesterday was a lovely day. strange, but lovely. My darling Holls, Jim and I went to a 'poetry brunch' at a friend's house out in the country. She has a beautiful little cottage. It has been in her family for years but she and her husband have decided to live there full time. Now that they both are retired, they have the time to paint and do all the repairs and stuff. They are happy, it is peaceful and they want to share. God love em.
Over tea and salad (and in the case of holls and jim and i, beer) we shared great conversation and great poetry.
It was mellow and relaxing and beautiful. I stayed after everyone left to help clean up. mary ellen decided to go for a swim and left me sitting with her husband. Steve and I had a nice little chat and Mary Ellen returned in her swim suit. You have to understand a few things here. Mary Ellen is 56. I'm uncomfortable with bodies and skin in general. okay, i'm uncomfortable with nudity and bathsuits basically. Mary Ellen sat and finished her tea and then went for a dip. Steve and I continued to chat. When Mary Ellen returned from the water, she was carrying her bathingsuit and wearing nothing but her towel. She pulled up a chair and joined us. She sat there naked, albeit in a towel, crossing and un crossing her legs and just chatting like she was fully clothed. You have to know me to understand how scary this was. I was worried the towel was going to fall and I was going to be embarrassed for her and such.
She soon ran in the house to put on some clothes and came out in a bathingsuit cover up that didn't really cover anything. we chatted a while longer and i tried not to look. I love the woman to death but i've seen too much.
