The problem.
Regarding the up and coming referendum on electoral reform, it seems that some people are prepared to cut of their nose to spite their face. If anyone votes No purely as some attack to the people within parliament today, then this short sighted attitude ends up damaging any real progress in the long term.
Is AV the perfect system? No. Is it better than FPTP? Yes. Is it a step towards a more proportional and democratic system for the future? Yes.
There are many changes I would like to make to our electoral system, such as shorter terms of governance. Our current five year term is shocking when you compare it to other democracies from around the world.
But with this referendum we have a stepping stone towards something better, something to improve the future democracy of this country.
FPTP only pleases the Cameron's,the Osbourne's and the Conservatives of this country!
