Dancing is a gift. If you loose the valve your body can respond of its own accord to the patterns around you. The kind of dancing where one forgets oneself contains the gift and once received becomes an agent of transformation for the self. The element of improvisation is a submission to the mystery and therefore a communion with the mystery. Dancing is a way of combing physical and spiritual expression. The body through dancing becomes an agent of soul and expresses aspects of living which are not discernible by the ego. The expression of the soul is essential to all creatures. That expression is an aspect of connection to our broader selves and in a literal sense to people we know in life. Dancing can be a meditation of love, a gift, sent to those around us we know and do not know.
