Week 2 Over

Feb 19, 2009 20:36

Today was my last day of work for the week. I only worked 2 days. I've yet to work a full week yet because of the holiday and orientation last week. From here on in it's 3 days a week. Anyway, I'm going to catch up on my journal entries for the last 3 days and try to be on top of writing each day from now on.

Tuesday, February 17, 2009: I got up early and took off a little bit before 9. I bought my metro pass a week ago but on the back of it it said it doesn't expire until the end of the month so I thought maybe I was good for a few more weeks. Turns out I was wrong. I go to swipe it to get thought the turnstiles and it tells me I have insufficient funds. So I run over to the machine and try to refill my car. The damn thing won't let me do it so I had to buy a new card. Right at that time the train pulls in. I hurry to get a 2 week pass this time and rush though the gate. Right when I get to the train door it closes shut. I was pissed but it was no big deal, another was coming in 10 minutes. The fact of the matter though is I'm really leaving too early to get to MTV. I could sleep later and leave later and be fine because no one is there at or before 10, they all come in, interns included, at about 15 past. I'm a good doobie, I'm there 15 minutes early. So I take the train in, get there at quarter of and head up to 40. I begin to hang out, waiting for Mindy to come in. I started reading my book again and hanging out not expecting any other interns to come in since I'm scheduled as the only one on Tuesdays. To my surprise, this kid Joell comes in. I think he might have come in to make up a missed day. I'll find out next Tuesday. Mindy finally came in and I asked her if she had my password so I could get onto the computers. Of course she didn't and I had to call the computer guy down. I was trying to get the password over the phone but I didn't have voicemail and they wouldn't call my cell. It was bullshit. The guy came down though right as I was about to go around asking everyone if they had seen the updated DVD and digital release sheets. I spent 10 minutes with this guy changing my password and getting set up. Finally I was online and there was no more problems. So I went around to all the folks who work for the home entertainment department. I stood waiting for the people to look at it and change things as they needed. I felt like a fool. While I was waiting thought, one guy got a phone call. It took even longer. Turns out it was David Wain of The State, Stella, Wet Hot, etc. I thought that was pretty cool. So I continued passing it around before one dude said he'll just pass it on so I don't have to wait. That worked out good. I went back to my desk, checked some stuff online before I had to make a delivery in the building somewhere. I didn't really understand where I was supposed to go but I got there and dropped off the tape. When I went back up, I went to check where the papers were. They ended up on this guy's desk and he was too busy to look at them so I took them and came back about 20 minutes later. He looked at it then and said he didn't really need it anyway. What a waste of time. I brought it back to Mindy and she did what she had to with the new info she had that people wrote on it. The rest of the day I literally hung out and did nothing. Despite not doing anything I didn't even eat lunch. Don't know why, just didn't feel like it. While I basically hung out all day, this kid Joell did so much shit. He made trips over 1640 like 5 or 6 times, took tapes and put them to DVD I think and made a shit load of DVD copies. Every time someone came over they went right to him, never me. I was getting kind of pissed but I can't complain. Later in the day I got an e-mail from Mindy with an excel document. It had the newly updated DVD and digital releases and she wanted me to make copies of each. I fixed one and put it on one page but when I showed it to her it was supposed to be on 2 pages but I told her if I printed it, it would have been on 4 pages so I worked with this other woman to try and get it right. She fixed it and e-mailed it to me but when I opened it it was back to 4 pages. Finally she printed it out correctly from her computer and I just made copies. We kept trying to get it to work though e-mail when I should have just made copies of her correct print the first time. I guess we're both idiots. So I made 20 copies of those 2 pages, then printed out the other sheet, made 20 copies of that, then stapled them all together and gave them to Mindy for a meeting on Wednesday. I went around after that to see if anyone needed anything and this guy, the same one that was on the phone with DW, tells me that if I have nothing to do than watch MTV's Sunday night programming on the website and get familiar with the characters. He always has this weird, kind of jackass attitude but I just go with it. There wasn't much time left after that so I just started watching some of the shows, packed up, said bye to Mindy and went home. When I got out the building I was damn hungry and decided I couldn't wait until I got back to the apartment so I went to this place just outside that was a coffee and bagel shot called Carmine's. I got a sausage, egg and cheese on a croissant and an orange juice with lots of pulp. Not as good as Bagel Inn or Dunkins' but it hit the spot. I took the train home, had a Philly cheese steak panini from Lean Cuisine and a cup of soup and watched TV until after Conan before going to bed.

Wednesday, February 18, 2009: I did absolutely nothing at all. I got up wicked late, almost at 1 o'clock. I had 3 packs of the cheap raisin oatmeal and a bagel. I don't think I'll buy the grocery store brand oatmeal any more. It tastes different. Too spicy, not in temp but in straight up spice. I just watched TV all day. I think I watched about 6 episodes of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Pretty good day. I didn't eat lunch since I got up so late. I was pretty hungry around 9 so I had a Lean Cuisine meal of like lemon garlic butter pasta with broccoli and shrimp. That was really good and a pretty good size. I was still hungry after a little bit so I had some Frito Scoops, which I forgot to say I bought when I got the lunch meat, then I had about half the bag of ranch rice cakes and a chocolate chip chewy. I stayed up for a little while, watching the Hornets vs. Magic along with CSI: NY. Even though I slept all day I was getting bored so after the news and DL's monologue I went to bed at around midnight, which is early for me, to get up for work in the morning.

Thursday, February 19, 2009: Up early again for work. For some reason I started setting my phone to wake me up at 8 instead of 8:30. I started that on Monday. It gives me more time but that's not generally my style. Weird. So I went to the metro station and almost missed the same 9 o'clock train again. I got to the door, snapped my fingers in disgust that I missed it and in that split second it opened up again and I hopped on. I made it to 44th by 9:30 and felt like it was way too early so I went to check out the cafeteria to see what they had for breakfast. It was all good things. They had the salad bar filled with fruit and a buffet line of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and other things, you could get a fresh breakfast sandwich made for you or there was also oatmeal and cream of wheat or maybe it was grits, I didn't look at the tag. I decided on nothing and just went up to my desk. I blew a few minutes so I wasn't so early. I started my day by watching the rest of the shows that I didn't watch on Tuesday. I spent about 2 hours doing this before I got bored. During this time I was constantly updating celticsblog.com and espn.com to get the latest on the NBA trade deadline. I switched over to onsmash.com and went though nearly 100 pages going back in the archives over the months listening to songs that looked like they'd be hot. I was surprised that I was actually able to listen to most of them. In the middle of this one lady, who I've been kind of friendly with, came over and asked me to go deliver some Dale Earnhardt DVD's. I had to look up the person on the company database to know where to go. As I left and went in the elevator I knew which floor to go to but then I just went into a fog, switched numbers around and went to the wrong floor. I had to go back up to 40 and check it again. I had actually gone to the 20th Floor instead of 29th so I wrote it down this time and delivered it. I couldn't find the desk but the woman found me and I headed back to listen to more beats and check the trades. Only little things went down like the C's getting rid of Patrick O'Bryant to Toronto to make space on the roster. With only a few hours left I went around to check if anyone needed anything and that guy who's kind of jerky said he had some stuff and gave me a few DVD's of The State to copy. The other interns, Leydi and Joell, were already making copies of other DVD's of The State. I took over those duties making the rest of the copies. Mindy came over looking to have a copy made of a Fantasy Factory teaser DVD so I did that and gave it to her then finished the rest of The State DVD's and gave them to Joell for labeling. There was a whole problem with that because the printer had an error and Joell didn't have that printer connected to his computer. He e-mailed me word document and I couldn't print either. The jerky guy was getting pissed because someone was coming to get the DVD's in only a few minutes. I told Joell to just write on the DVD's. I left and came back and Leydi had fixed the printer somehow but it was too late by then. Not too long after the jerky guy came back and had something special for me to do. I guess since I laughed when he said David Wain called when I was in his office on Tuesday, he figured I knew who he was and the stuff he's done so he asked me and I told him I did. Since I knew about him and his shows and projects, he sent me on a mission to find some articles about The State in order to aid him in putting together some sort of project about the show. I think things are going to turn around for me now, maybe even being involved in this project. I spent my last 2 hours plus 20 minutes after 6 researching stuff. I was only able to find 2 articles and I don't know if they were even good. I saved them to this file he wanted me to put them in and that was it. He said to work on it for the next few days but I'm not coming back in until Monday so I'll continue trying then. I took off after dropping a deuce and was hungry again after work. I didn't stop to get lunch again. I guess I was just too into listening to beats and the trade deadline. I went down 44th toward the metro station but went up a couple blocks looking for that place Chipolte I went to before or a place that sold pizza by the slice. I found a place, crossed the street got a slice of spinach and went to the train. They barely heated it up but I didn't care, I just pounded it. The crust was hard as a rock. I hopped on the train back to BK, got back and had some kind of chicken panini from Lean Cuisine and a cup of soup. I'm plenty full now. As we speak I'm just watching TV in my PJ's and slips. Watched a show about lead, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld, some of Happy Gilmore and CSI. The C's are on national TV tonight so I'll get to see them face the Jazz on TNT. I'm probably going to say up late watching that, the news, DL and Conan before going to bed late and sleeping late tomorrow. Maybe I'll do stuff tomorrow. Hopefully I'll go out and run. Probably. Ok I'm out until later. Peace.
