Goggles

I do not know what is up with my present supply of Subtext Goggles (TM). I think they have become sentient and have either begun playing dice, or else devised a very complex sorting algorithm to determine which pair will apply itself to my vision at any given time (or maybe fandom ( Read more... )

You have Random Pairing Generator goggles now, perhaps? You probably put yours down in a comm and picked up someone else's. I think that happens a lot round here. (I'm not sure whose I've got at the moment, or if my current ones came with a small print warning that strange things would happen if I was foolhardy enough to watch too much David Collings in stuff.)

There's always the brain bleach, but the side-effects can be so drastic, can't they?

And I am sure I have at least seen Fanny/Edmund (you meant Edmund, yes?)/Mary requested for Yuletide. It might have been written, you never know. And what did you think of Mansfield Park? So many people don't like it, so I'm interested, being a strange person who actually does enjoy reading it - and I even like Fanny, too. (I can't hate her; I think I was her at age 15. But always a little crazier, admittedly.)

Edmund! Yes, of course that is what I meant. I really ought to be able to keep my Eds straight, having played one once in King Lear. (Our good Mr. Edmund Bertram would not have approved, of course, but we live in different times.)

Hmm. Well, I've been on tumblr and TV Tropes lately---those are probably both goggle free-for-alls. I suppose I could have picked up pretty much anything from either of them. Fortunately, the present excitement hasn't yet made serious inroads in my supply of brain bleach (although that may not say much, since I stocked up after an incident with Tongue Slip Goggles a month or two ago). ;) I'll have to go have a look at AO3's Mansfield Park offerings, though. Thanks for the suggestion ( ... )

Oh, good! I suddenly realised that between a few things, I had rather spammed you with comments, some of them EPIC so I'm relieved that you didn't run away thinking I was a crazy person. (Well, I am, but mostly harmless, and at a safe distance from you, I'm pretty sure.) ;-D Anyway, glad you got the recs! (Hmm, yes, NOT a good week for obtaining TV by certain means *cough*, really, yes.) And I don't think I've seen the fic - I'll have to take a look, so thanks ( ... )

Oh, and everybody blames TV Tropes for everything, so it's bound to be down to that. Mystery solved. ;-)

ETA: And, whoops, I replied too quickly & forgot to say the important thing, which is that I'm so pleased you liked what you saw of Unearthly Child. I love all of DW (as was probably evident from my long list of recs) but I do have an especial fondness for the original TARDIS team and their long, accidental adventure. And it's often hard to rec them as people just don't seem to have the proper enthusiasm for B&W TV that is nearly 50 years old, dammit! ()
