Unique Interests

Stolen from dontcrosscross because I don't want to be doing what I'm supposed to be doing right now (solely, mind you, because it is what I am supposed to be doing; otherwise I would enjoy doing it :P ).

brutus/rome Not really. I just stole this from Cross (bcuz itz TRU!!!) and LJ hasn't caught up yet. gignocum ought to acquire it too, if she has any sense about her.

caius cassius longinus Not really. Cross apparently recently stole this from me. I had been particular to it because my obsession with Cassius is as much wrapped up in the historical man as in the Shakespearean character. (And maybe I like being a pretentious Classics major BA from time to time.)

Which brings us to my actual unique interests:

catherine of winchester Because I must have some obscure character from Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell all to myself. I use (or, given the length of time ago that I was in such places, have used) this name in a couple of JS&MN-centric communities. And she's really pretty cool: she was a fairly early Aureate magician, was more interested in magic and scholarship than marriage and wrote a rather cool book (of magic: The Book of the Lady Catherine of Winchester), which Thomas of Lanchester may have borrowed from in his Treatise Concerning the Language of Birds.

king's roads Just added. Am somewhat expecting gig to steal it. Is what the name of this little journal references and is a cool place that must be visited (provided I can get a hold of a spell of dissolution and one of revelation in order to, you know, get through a mirror, and all :P ).

tl;dr - random weird unique obsessions = late Roman Republic, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell
