Well, whaddaya know. The California Supreme Court today announced that it has struck down the state's ban on same-sex marriage as being unconstitutional.
The state has allowed registered domestic partnerships, but is now the second state to legalize same-sex marriage (Massachusetts did so in 2004.)
The issue is expected to go to the US Supreme Court soon.
