I stopped by the library a couple of days ago. The computer system was down, so I walked the isles browsing for any books that might strike my fancy when I came across The Complete Anime Encyclopedia. At least, that what I think I remember the title to be. “Complete” may or may not have been apart of the title. According to the cover, it chronicled the history of anime from 1917 to 2000 (I think). The most recent titles were released in 1998, apparently, but who knows. For the most part, I simply perused through the titles and their respective descriptions and reviews. I was stunned to learn that Huckleberry Finn has been made into an anime movie. Hmmm. What would Mark Twain think about this? More importantly, would die hard otakus insist on the subbed version over the dubbed version? I can’t help but wonder what the Japanese take on the 19th century American southern accent sounds like in Japanese dialogue.
