What I learned in Anime Club

Disclaimer: This entry references my innate dorkiness.

Years ago, when I would attend the Monday night anime meetings at my college, every so often through out the week, I would stop, think, and anticipate the next meeting. During the weekend, I'd inevitably think to myself, "Cool! Monday is in a few days; I get to go to the next anime meeting." It must sound sort of perverse to be glad Monday is almost here. Looking back, I think it's a good idea to do something fun every Monday. The anime club was an ideal example because:

1. I enjoyed it
2. It was free
3. Provided I completed all of my studying, attending didn't require a lot of effort in and of itself
4. It didn't interfere with Tuesday (If you drink, please don't try going out and getting tanked on Monday night, then groaning at me on Tuesday because you had to go to work with a hangover. I'm not advocating that at all.)

It can be almost anything (dining out, ordering a pizza, renting a movie), just let it be something you can do almost every week. It has to become habitual so that, eventually, it will come to mind whenever you think of Monday. Having something to look forward to on a Monday night really takes the edge off starting a new work week. I wonder if anyone else in the club gleamed that from those meetings.
