character; Serah Farron
series; Final Fantasy XIII
age; Eighteen
class; Red Mage
special abilities; Serah's a straight A student, thus, she's naturally intelligent, and has a decent amount of common sense to boot. Prior to the game and the events within it, she was planning to go to university in Eden.

history; The point is, I have people I can count on. I'll make it through.

personality; On the surface, Serah is a kind hearted and easy going person. This quality helps her to at least get on with others around her - she's not a social butterfly, but is far from a social recluse. She likes to meet others and help other people out, if she can, even though she's a little on the quiet side.

Serah is smart and intelligent, being a straight A student. Though this is a fact she never flaunts or makes a fuss about, showing she has a relatively humble side. She is bright and able to pick up things quickly. Her favourite subject is history, which she is passionate about, as it sparks her interest - which, in game, ends up being her downfall, as upon visiting the Bodhum Vestige she is branded as a Pulse l'Cie.

Serah is a very loving individual and has a desire to get on with everybody. As such, she often leans towards avoiding fights and arguments and instead be more likely to take a more pacifistic approach and persuade and calm with words, or back out in an attempt to keep the peace. This can be as much a blessing as a curse, as sometimes she will bottle things up in an attempt to not make things worse between her and the other party - particularly on the issue with Lightning's not-so-subtle dislike for Snow - which can lead to problems in the long run. She has a willingness to help others, even those she does not know, and find a way to help them resolve their problems even if there's nothing she can ultimately do. If there is anything she can do at all, Serah will do it. This applies to any of her friends, as well.

For her age, Serah is particularly mature and holds a sense of wisdom about her. She is never seen to be childish and is rational in her decision making. This is, in part, to losing both her parents at a young age, which also makes her independent and able to care for herself. Whilst it's a sensitive spot, Serah does not remember much of her parents so it doesn't effect her as much as it does to her sister. When she was younger, Lightning was her rock, as she looked after her.

Her independence is often reflected in the fact Serah is prone to keeping her troubles to herself, so as not to burden others. Initially, upon becoming a l'Cie, she tries to deal with the problems on her own and rationalises a way out of them, firstly by protecting the people she loved so they wouldn't have to suffer the same fate. As such, it shows she is able to pick herself up and try to find a way out of it. But at the same time, Serah understands the importance of the fact her friends can help her and are willing to do so - she would just never force it upon them without their insistence of knowing what was wrong or their approval. If she can avoid it, Serah will not burden others.

Whilst many see her sister worrying and being overprotective of her, in reality, this goes both ways. Serah also worries about Lightning, from the workload she takes on from being part of the military unit in the area to attempting to look after her at the same time, to even the fact that Lightning worries over Serah's wellbeing too much and should look out for herself more. That's not to say Serah appreciates her sister's love for her, because she does, but at the same time there is also an element of Serah trying to reach for independence, usually for the simple fact that it would give Lightning a break, and never being fully able - or allowed - to get it, thus creating a growing distance between them. This is not helped by Serah usually backing down from the situation and 'going with the flow' of things. The one thing she particularly stands up for is Snow, even though, as she is not much of a fighter, she usually loses her conviction quickly when put against the soldier of her sister and lapses into silence.

Serah truly loves Snow with all her heart, and is willing to do anything to protect him, even letting him go for his own safety. She trusts him and puts her utmost faith in him.

point in canon; End of game, just after being restored from crystal stasis, but before reuniting with her sister and fiancée.
place of arrival; Zanarkand.
starter task?; No, thank you.

first person sample;
1. What is your view of authority, and what event most affected it?
It can be a good thing. If it works, and if it's fair... and really, if they tell the truth. But, with the Sanctum, they did so many things that weren't right... that's why Nora existed, y'know? When they can take people away, and purge them, and hurt people for no reason, and you lose all your freedom... that's when authority doesn't work anymore.

2. What trait of yours is most remarked upon by other people? Why?
They say I'm quite easygoing, and easier to talk to than my sister. She can be a little hard to approach sometimes.

3. What is your responsibility to the world, if any? Why do you think that?
3. I'd like to help others, to help them find their feet. In a way, I passed on the duty of saving the world... so I'm indebted to give something back to it.

4. What is your worst childhood memory?
4. I don't remember much of it, but... it was after me and Lightning lost our parents. I didn't really understand it, then, but... Lightning looked... so much not like herself. I never want to see her so... scared like that again.

5. What trait do you find most admirable, and how often do you find it?
5. I think... a driving force, like a conviction. A determination to do the best in what you think is right, like with Snow, and his work in Nora, and like with Lightning, and her work with the Corps; she always follows what she thinks is right. It's not always that common... even I'm guilty of going with the flow. But I think everyone has it within them if they just give themselves a chance.

third person sample; There was a slight jump in her step as Serah walked the streets of Bodhum. Elation, to a point; happiness, to another, made all the more noticeable by the smile that was firmly set on her face. Not for her surroundings, either - but for the person she was going to see.

But it wasn't all sunshine, as there was something that eventually made her slow, and make her face fall into a frown. Lightning. Lightning had given her such a wan, disapproving look when she said she was going to see Snow. As Serah had tried to defend him, the seemingly permanent frown on Lightning's face for this subject went lower and lower, and Serah had eventually recoiled, her voice falling away from her into the quietest of mumbles.

She really didn't want to fight over this. Every time her sister gave her that look, Serah just found herself shying away. Lightning had so many things on her mind, so much on with her work and missions and trying to look after Serah all at once, that Serah felt bad for making it worse rather than better. There wasn't much she could do, and Lightning would most likely not let her do much, anyway... she couldn't fight for her, afterall.

There were the easy things that she did, such as cooking - or trying to, at least - for her when she came home, tidying the house and just making sure she was okay in any shape or form. Trying not to look when Lightning came home with injuries, because it made both of them feel even worse about the whole affair. Keeping up with her work - not that that was really hard. She enjoyed learning, and it came easily for her. But when it came to Snow... Serah really wasn't sure. "What do I do?" she asked to no one, her face thoughtful.

He was a good person. Why couldn't her sister see it? She'd see it eventually, right? Wouldn't she?

Serah found herself smiling mournfully. She knew her sister. Lightning wouldn't let this go quickly. If it were just a small thing, then Serah would let it go. But not this. This was different, something that hadn't been a problem before. There had to be a way, to make her see. To make her see Snow was the good person she claimed him to be.
