Edit (28/03): Updated relationships
Character Information
Name: Uchiha- fuckin’- Sasuke
Age: 18
Gender: We think he’s male.
Sexuality: ...Oh please, he’s such a fagula. Do we expect me to play heterosexual men? Maybe Bi~ but definitely prefers men. Is learning from Oro that sleeping with anyone is a way to get them to be putty in your hands.
Skills/Ability:
The Uchiha clan were renowned for two things- their fire jutsus and their kekkei genkai, the Sharingan. Sasuke inherited both of these, as well as an affinity to lightning jutsu. His fighting style relies mainly on his speed.
The Sharingan is a coveted blood-limit (especially if you’re everyone’s favourite psychotic-most-likely-paedophilic snake-man) rumoured to be descended from the Hyuuga’s kekkei genkai, the Byakugan. It is a doujutsu which allows the user to copy any jutsu that it sees. The user is then capable of using that jutsu without having to go through the tedious process of learning it, though the Sharingan’s drawback in regards to its copying ability lies in the fact that the user does not gain the skill or resources needed to perform the attack- simply put, if a technique uses more chakra or stamina than the Uchiha copying it has, they will be incapable of using it. It is also incapable of copying other kekkei genkai.
The Sharingan is, strangely, an evolutionary kekkei genkai. This means that its power is determined by the number of tomoe in the eye. The user will gain all three tomoe in both eyes when they are adeptly suited.
Continuing the evolutionary chain of Sharingan, there is a final form of the doujutsu which is known as Mangekyo Sharingan. Few Uchiha have ever activated this form of Sharingan as it requires the individual to kill their closest friend. This form of Sharingan allows the user to use two new techniques- Amaterasu; a fire jutsu capable of burning through anything and Tsukuyomi; a genjutsu where the user is capable of bringing their victim into another dimension. Hatake Kakashi’s ability to develop Mangekyo has thrown some doubt over whether this is the only way to achieve the doujutsu or not.
Another strange point about the Sharingan, where it differs from the Byakugan especially, is the fact that the ability can lie dormant in a user until it is needed - typically in a life threatening situation. This explains why some Uchiha (usually looked down upon by the clan) never actually develop an active Sharingan.
The Sharingan’s perceptive skills lie in the ability to see through attacks. The user is capable of keeping up with high speeds (at least with their eyes). This is also skill-based; a new Sharingan user will not be able to follow the same level of speed as an experienced Sharingan user. This perception also allows them to see through genjutsu by noticing the chakra flow. Finally, a skilled Sharingan user is capable of manipulating the spinning property of the eye to hypnotise a victim into believing things.
Orochimaru has applied his Cursed Seal of Heaven to Sasuke. The curse seal lends extraordinary power to the bearer, should they survive it. The seal also offers the drawback of being under Orochimaru’s watch and probable control.
Sasuke is skilled in nin and taijutsu, but tends to avoid genjutsu (because, rather like being a medic-nin, only girls use genjutsu ;) and he mostly fights on the offensive. He has an almost alarming natural ability to chakra manipulation and has twisted chidori into his own personal adaptation, Chidori Nagashi, wherein it flows as a paralysing and harming agent against others. Since becoming part of Oto he has begun to use his own Kusanagi sword, which seems extremely out of place in the modern-day settings- highlighting the low-budget of the Oto region, that they are only able to afford weaponry that is technologically out of date.
Sasuke comes from a rich family, and is therefore capable of affording some of the most forward-thinking weapons and accessories. He rides a Ducati Monster with customisations that allow him to use chakra to increase the speed of the bike as well as being able to extend his Chidori Nagashi to the bike without causing damage to it.
Weapons-wise, he carries the traditional shinobi shuriken- though far bigger than the standard issue ones. These are used for “Manipulating Windmill Triple Blades” and have carried an upgrade as well - a small homing device which can be set to trap or kill.
Personality:
Sasuke is a focused individual, determined to reach the goals he has set for himself and using almost any means to do so. He is not a natural to teamwork- past experiences teaching him that those whom you trust are often not your friends. He has since relied on his own ability which is a point of criticism from many shinobi in the districts.
Because his family name resounds such legend, he has a natural superiority complex, aided by the fact that he was constantly better than anyone of his age. He treats few (if any) people with respect- even his teacher and mentor Orochimaru doesn’t get a proper address of respect. He is loath to admit that there could be anyone more talented than him and puts much stock in the power of Uchiha (the Sharingan, their natural genius).
He is dismissive of those whom he may have ever deigned to care about, naturally selfish in his actions and far more like Itachi than he’d ever care to realise or admit to. He does not do this to appear ‘cool’- as many of the girls he was popular with seemed to enjoy believing. Rather it seems that his actions lie in a deep-rooted fear of losing someone he cares about again. This phobia is an unconscious driving force to his dismissive behaviour and he does not recognise it as the factor in his behaviour, preferring to believe that it lies in his superiority to well... everyone else and thus his ability to function without their aid.
Due to his superiority complex, Sasuke cannot handle the idea that anyone may be more powerful than him and is fiercely competitive. Finding that seeking people out for challenges was beneath him, he does not go out of his way to challenge anyone- the challenges seem to naturally come to him (something about being brilliant). When sucked into these challenges, Sasuke will give it his all to win against anyone- but only if he begins to realise that he could lose.
He does suffer from mild jealousy towards others- those who have not lost what he has lost. His selfish, self-centred (rather immature) behaviour and mindset tend to make him rather narrow-minded towards other people and he is incapable of sympathising or empathising with their problems. This creates the typical angst he can be stereotyped with in bad fanfiction. He does, of course, have some angst (who wouldn’t after his experiences?) but he has channelled them into habits which create an obsession- a method of dealing with the pain when he does not want to understand the pain he is feeling, he replaces it with anger and takes it out in a way he finds acceptable- becoming determined to kill his brother.
Appearance:
Sasuke now stands at an impressive 6 foot tall but otherwise hasn’t really changed much. He still retains his short, spiky duckbutt hair, which is a result of being less than bothered about how it is styled (‘it’s not of a shinobi to care about such frivolous things as their appearance’). He has kept the gay pirate suit same outfit he donned when joining the Oto district- mostly because the purple assbow is an identifying feature of Oto shinobi- whom are all naturally suspicious of any and everyone.
Years of studying under Orochimaru has given him some very useful makeup tips of the snake sannin’s habits and grooming regimens. This has led to him outlining his eyes in a small amount of eyeliner in order to make them larger, whiter and more noticeable. He hasn’t yet begun to wear the purple eyeshadow or white foundation, thank God.
Orochimaru planted his love bite cursed seal of Heaven on Sasuke’s collar- a tomoe tattoo which he can use to increase his power. This seal changes his appearance as it evolves, and in curse level two it is most noticeable, giving him a long shock of white hair, darkened skin and wings that resemble giant hands. A black cross across the bridge of his nose and dark lips complete this look.
His eyes stay in their composed black state normally, when walking around the Oto district unless there is a sneaking danger or threat. He usually finds that within Oto he does not need to turn on Sharingan to be feared.
Outside of Oto and Orochimaru’s company he prefers to dress like a closeted gay bloke respectable young man, in sharp suits and pieces of leather for his Ducati Monster, which he uses for transport, although he is capable of the Shunshin jutsu. He always wears sunglasses outside of Oto, which completely shade his eyes from view, allowing him to activate the Sharingan constantly without being detected.
His build has become progressively more muscular as he’s aged, though years of tutelage under Orochimaru has meant that he has learnt how to fight powerfully without becoming The World’s Strongest Man or anything. His Oto uniform hides this muscle, in comparison to the fitted clothes he wears outside of it (privately he criticises the choices of wardrobe for Oto but he finds that learning to fight properly instead of like one of those Konoha brats is more important than dressing perfectly).
Background:
Sasuke is the youngest and one of the last surviving members of the Uchiha clan- a once proud and strong family of shinobi from the Konoha district. The family tended to be made of geniuses and it seemed that Sasuke was no different- he wanted to follow in his brother Itachi’s footsteps because he was heralded as the clan’s best genius. His father, Fugaku, never really showed any type of kindness to Sasuke, too engrossed in Itachi’s progress.
Sasuke first gained proper recognition from his father after completing the jutsu which was looked upon as the stepping stone into adulthood (Katon: Gōkakyū no Jutsu) within only a week at the age of seven.
Soon after his test of adulthood, his brother killed his clan, all except him. Itachi claimed it was because Sasuke was not worth killing and that he wanted to see his brother try to grow from out of his shadow. Almost to add salt to Sasuke’s wounds, Itachi forced him to witness the killings again and again through Tsukuyomi.
From then on, his already focused behaviour intensified with the determination to better and kill his brother and it caused him to become withdrawn unto himself. He did not care for what most boys his age did, even though he had it (popularity, especially with the girls) and a one sided rivalry developed with the kyuubi carrier, Uzumaki Naruto. (On Naruto’s side, of course). Sasuke was loath to admit that he despised the boy because he was capable of threatening him seriously during fights, even if it was often due to flukes and chance. He, of course, feigned indifference about the boy and treated him with the same contempt he treated most other people.
He continued to grow as a shinobi, a formidable fighter and much of Konoha held hope for the genius of Uchiha being carried through by a loyal child of the land. Unfortunately, a chance meeting with the head of the Oto district, Orochimaru, left him marked with Orochimaru’s cursed seal of Heaven, a mark which while giving him power has a high fatality rate and some power which draws those marked to Orochimaru. He found that, after a while, it was a power he came to rely on and disregarded the possibility of stopping the curse’s power through another seal.
Determined still to be the best of his age and then better, noticing the advancement others were making (most particularly Naruto) he started to become frustrated with his apparent lack thereof. He had made some progress into becoming more social, however this new competition caused him to return to his former mental state. This is how he began to believe that he needed the curse seal’s power and eventually, Orochimaru. ((If Itachi’s canon visit of torture and Sound Four attack are going to be added in... they happened, yes? XD))
Sasuke refused to gain the Mangekyo Sharingan by killing Naruto, realising that it was playing into his brother’s hands- one of the many reasons he decided to allow Orochimaru to tutor him in Oto.
Throughout his tutelage under Orochimaru, Sasuke increased his abilities greatly. He is seemingly aware of much of Orochimaru’s plans, including that Orochimaru desires the power of the Sharingan. Seemingly, he doesn’t care. He has not developed any close or even amicible relationships in Oto and most of his interactions there are challenges. He also learned how to ride a motorcycle and purchased a Ducati Monster (which was totally not an excuse of his to visit Naruto more, nope, no siree!)
Not yet considering himself capable, or having had the opportunity to kill Itachi, Sasuke is continuing to be educated under Orochimaru’s eye- though lately it seems that he is developing his own adgenda more and more.
Relationships:
Naruto: The relationship between Sasuke and Naruto derives from the one-sided jealous rivalry on Naruto’s half because of Sasuke’s popularity with girls and genius skill. Sasuke used to consider Naruto nothing more than an irritation he would accept challenges from to give him more bragging rights. Things progressed, and Sasuke developed a grudging friendship with the boy, realising that he is his closest friend and he would need to kill Naruto to achieve Mangekyo. He also grew his own jealousy, which he will not admit to aloud- he envies Naruto’s power and growth and cannot find a reasonable cause for it. He severed these bonds upon his defection to Oto, though some residue of them still lingers in his memory and he claims, yet, that the main reason he did not kill Naruto when he had the opportunity to was because he did not wish to copy Itachi’s journey.
Their rivalry still exists to this day, and Sasuke treats Naruto as a piece of gunk on his shoe. They frequently get into fights which end in draws which annoys both parties to no end.
Orochimaru: His tutor, Sasuke should respect the man, but seemingly doesn’t- never bothering to apply the suffix of -sama to Orochimaru’s name when he addresses him as well as being extremely impatient when waiting upon the older man. He knows of Orochimaru’s goal to gain the Sharingan through getting his body and projects an image of uncaring towards this- stating that he does not care so long as he is allowed to exact his revenge. He hides many things from Orochimaru, not limited to another agenda he may have.
Itachi: Their bonds are forged through brotherly love now twisted into hate. As a child, Sasuke admired (adored) his brother and worked diligently to become as good as he was. Their relationship was close and Itachi seemed to be the only male member of Sasuke’s immediate family to give a damn about his progress, often giving him the praise that Sasuke so desperately craved from their father.
This was shattered when Itachi slaughtered their clan and forced Sasuke to watch their deaths again and again. Sasuke swore to himself that he would kill Itachi one day and this event shaped his life not only in terms of his goals and relationship with his brother, but also his fears and relationships in general. He has not given up this hate, going to literally any extreme to destroy his brother.
It seems that their relationship is actually, at least on Itachi’s half, his own way of caring for Sasuke and making sure he can achieve the power he wants to and Itachi states that they will find a way to grow together, even if Sasuke hates him.
Kabuto: Sasuke regards Kabuto as little more than Orochimaru’s right -hand man and a helpful asset in terms of his medical abilities. He treats him with roughly the same respect he does most people (that is to say none) but will share with him what is necessary. His opinion on Kabuto is mainly apathetic and he uses him in roughly the same way he uses Orochimaru- to benefit his own ends.
-- Jinchou: Sasuke has never worked well with children. Jinchou is no exception. He tends to try and ignore her whenever possible. When this isn't possible, he tries to move her away from him, which she doesn't appreciate. Usually because he pushes her away rather roughly.
Sakura: In the beginning, Sasuke saw Sakura as little more than another one of his fangirls. He frequently mocked and criticised her, especially for the typical girlish idealism of finding boys more important than training as a shinobi. Gradually he came to tolerate her and upon his defection to Oto he thanked her for things never elaborated on (her constant caring for him?)
Now, he again treats her as an annoyance, though grudgingly admits to himself that she has advanced well since he left. He knows little about her changes otherwise.
Kimimaro: Roommates with Kimimaro, their relationship tends to be on tenterhooks, though Kimimaro does serve Sasuke well. Sasuke is curious about the boy that used to be Orochimaru's future vessel and wants to learn more about him. They frequently spar together, not minding where, really. (Even in their room).
Goals:
First, and most obviously, Sasuke is determined to kill his brother, Itachi. He feels that it is a duty reserved solely for him and has been working towards it for eleven years. He has taken a path disturbingly similar to Itachi’s, though less extreme - Orochimaru has criticised him for not being able to kill miscellaneous people and questions how he will be capable of killing Itachi if he cannot kill the faceless? He believes his hate has grown strong enough since the last time the two brothers came face-to-face and this hate perhaps blinds him to being able to kill Itachi, in reality, as his judgement would be unclear when they fought and he would not be able to make a rational game plan- perhaps his own suicide pact.
Secondly, Sasuke plans to not allow Orochimaru to take control of his body. He does not believe that Orochimaru is worthy of taking control of the Sharingan as it is a skill solely for the superior bloodline of Uchiha. Until the time comes where he will be chosen as a host, he plans to exploit Orochimaru for his knowledge and abilities. Whether he plans to take Orochimaru’s place as leader of the Oto district when time comes is something as of yet undecided, though he has been making links with some of Orochimaru’s other subjects, speaking to them and gaining their support.
Thirdly, Sasuke plans to revive the Uchiha clan. He wants the mother of the new Uchiha generations to be a strong and focused shinobi capable of also being a housewife- one of the reasons he despised his fanclub, as he believed that they were not strong or focused enough to deserve his attention. On some level, this is also to crave the approval of his dead father by restoring the glory of a once great clan.
Other:
Sasuke takes pride in all he owns and does and all his weapons, accessories and clothes are constantly spotless.
In his spare time, Sasuke mainly reads scrolls about his family history which he brought from the Uchiha manor to the Oto slums. He knows each scroll by heart but still reads them for the sake that he may have missed some fact that he needs.
Accustomed to the Uchiha Manor, he dislikes the Oto slums but makes no sound about that as one of the things he despises most is a hypocrite.
He is not blind to his flaws, though his arrogant appearance would dictate so, but only his flaws in regards to being a shinobi. He does not see the importance of his personality flaws and makes no effort to change them. He believes - well, knows - that one does not need to be liked by a person in order to persuade them to do your bidding. He gets people to follow his lead through a combination of threats and an apathetic attitude towards them. He employs a ‘my way or the highway’ leadership style.
He has a preference for routine, even within missions and battles where there is no sense of predictability. His Ducati is always cleaned and maintained the same way and brought to the same mechanic’s. This stems from a change in routine on the day of the Uchiha massacre, which made breaking routine unnecessarily a superstition to him.
