Title: The Funeral: Chapter 6 Authors: shelbecat and rachel_wilder Rating: T (aka PG-13) Summary: Continuing from Reunion and The Wedding, we follow our characters through the highs and lows of a five year span until we reach The Funeral.
And all that slow lead-in, making us think it was Coach - tsk. Evil, you are. But I guess that the promised get together between Six and Thirty Three, and their respective families, might just make up for it. Eventually.
I know...I know!!! It was a very sad decision, but it needed to be a main character...you know? My God...I live in this universe, I swear.
After we posted the last chapter, I wrote Rachel about how we broke up the best couple of all...Tim and Jay! It was just wrong! But all will be put right - don't you worry!
when I read that it was Landry who had died, I actually had to get up from the computer, out of my room and have a nice sob session in the bathroom. I love Landry oh-so! oh-so! oh-so! much and I still can't believe y'all did him like that!
I was thinking if it were Coach T, my reaction would've been the same. I am glad that Riggins & Street will probably re-befriend each other, that made my tears worth it, just as seeing Lyla & Jason adopting a brother and sister... but back to the previous topic: why? why? why? why? why? why Landry?
yes, let's see Landry's friends give him the wake he deserves! yes, let us rejoice in the Street family! but I don't think I can celebrate any of that until I fully & finally know why Landry?
another job well done, ladies--though I say that very begrudgingly with hurt in my heart, anger in my head & sadness in my voice!
I wanted to cry over this too! But it was a necessary evil. And we will have loads of happy to make up for it, promise. Although there is still the actual funeral - save some of those tears!
I'm glad you think so! It was so obvious to me that it wouldn't be Coach - but you never know how someone else will see it. And it was hard to write! I love Landry!
Okay, so Landry wasn't even on my list of possibles, so way to muddy the waters in the lead-up. But, oh, so sad. And so hard on Matt/Julie and Tim/Tyra. I do think that seeing their own wake will be good and I am happy for Jason and Lyla (and yes, the good often comes with the bad -- nice balance there) and I want to see how they and Tim and Tyra are able to pull it back together. Another good chapter.
I'm glad you liked it. It was a tough decision way back when to kill anyone, let alone choosing Landry. But it had to be someone important - and he's so crucial to so many people.
Plus I don't think we'd ever survive killing Coach ;)

HOW DID YOU DO THAT! HOW...HOW!!
Jesus, I can't even appreciate the insta-Street family awesomeness because you killed Landry!
Now excuse me I have to go recollect my jaw from the floor and mop up my tears.

you made me open up to what I really, truly & honestly felt and for that I thank you.

And you better appreciate the Street family awesomeness - I heard a rumor there will be some Joanne-loveliness just for you.

Then maybe I will forgive you for killing Landry off in the second most cliche way to kill off a rockstar and his gay lover.
