[The first thing the PCD picks up are loud, rhythmic thwacks as Jet works on the outside of the house.  He’s surprised it held up as well as it did, granted there are a waterbender and a firebender here.  But still.  The damages seemed petty compared to some of the things he’d seen in other parts of the city, or even next door.  But he dismisses

[Sokka happens to be at the forge when he see's Jet's message, and since he's due for a break anyway, he just heads for Queen Anne's Row. Popping around to where he guesses Jet was working, the young tribesman prods gently.] Hey, need some help?

[Jet looks over, somewhat edgy by now.] Think I'm gonna let it win for today.

[Not really, he'd probably be foolish to try it later in the dark when he was calmed down. He knows he can't focus, and he probably can't overcome the damage done to his right arm-- looking weak to someone, even Sokka, is never at the top of his list.]

[angle_on_it]

That might be for the best -- you've got to take care of that arm, right? [Though that doesn't mean Sokka's going anywhere. He tentatively goes to pick up some debris and tosses it over toward the wreckage of his house.] You know, if you wanted, I could take some time off from the forge and help you rebuild here.

It's taken care of. I'm just pushing it. [And getting tired of pushing so hard, but Jet refuses to let himself think such thoughts.]

Yeah? We could always build you something more permanent, too.

[angle_on_it]

[He's trying so hard to put on a smile today, so he offers Jet a thin example.] It's okay, we'll find a place. At least until spring when we can fix the old one back up.

Now's as good a time as any. [He rolls his good shoulder back and looks at what he didn't get accomplished on his own house today.]

[angle_on_it]

Let's just take things one step at a time, okay? Suki and I are all right where we're at, so if we can get this fixed up, it should buy us some time. [Sokka will survey the work as well, arms crossed over his chest.] I'll bet if we asked a few people to spend a day or two on it, we'd get it done even quicker.

Alright. [That much is understandable.]

Quick isn't my goal... I just want to get it done. A lot of places are a lot worse off than we are with this.

[angle_on_it]

Then maybe we should focus there first. Prioritize, you know?

I have here and there. I'm just not up to par yet... I just hammered my thumb. [SIGH.]

I don't think that's how you're supposed to use a hammer.

And here I thought you were too stubborn to take direction. Tomorrow, work won't hurt some much now that you've passed Introduction to Carpentry.

[... Sokka, you're a dick. Jet's throwing his hammer your way, too.]

[Hey, can you blame the guy for offering a little levity? It's his defense mechanism and you're not so good at keeping yourself out of pain.]

[Luckily for Sokka, he can just side-step and watch the hammer land harmlessly.]

So, is that a 'yes, Sokka, please come back tomorrow and help me with my project'? Or more of a 'screw you, Sokka, get out of my face?'

[That doesn't make it cool, but Jet knows he's just overall bitter right now. When he'd start to calm down again, he wasn't so sure.]

That's a 'pick up the hammer, Sokka, we're finishing the window now'.
