[Jet never has been one to do things at a normal time, so maybe that explains his post now. He walks almost silently, his feet seeming to know exactly which way to go to get to his destination. The PCD is held so it’s looking up to his face as he walks, and his voice comes out hushed as not to disturb anyone.]
Hey…happy new year everyone. I’m

( Actually-- yes, Zuko was definitely asleep. Good thing for him he's always been kind of a light sleeper. Living as a refuge and hideaway with his uncle all those months taught him that sleeping heavily might be a dangerous thing. Picking up on the footfalls on the stairs just before they reach his door, his eyes snap open. Zuko stares into the darkness for the briefest of moments, then the banging commences-- continues--
Kicking back the sheet Zuko's out of bed and stalking towards the door in a pair of light pants and sleeveless tunic, yanking that damn door open to glare at-- Jet?
Zuko blinks. What is going on? He's a little surprised; last he'd heard, Jet was nowhere near the houses. Unless... )
You must be lost.
( The faint hint of irritation might be lost in how rough and thick his voice is from sleep still. )

[Jet's knuckles continually wrap on the door until it swings open. He just barely misses Zuko's face, shaking his head to snap him out of whatever daze he had been in. Then again, if he had, by chance, hit Zuko, it would be all Zuko's fault for opening the door so quickly.
It was kind of rude.
His brow goes up to the simple statement. Lost? What was that supposed to mean? As far as he's concerned, this house is more his than Zuko's, so he just kind of scoffs. He reaches behind him for his blades but stops short.]
Get some clothes on. We're going for a walk.
[He gives a once-over and scrunches his nose. If his tone wasn't impatient enough, he's sure the glare he's giving is.]

Some people actually sleep around here if you hadn't noticed.
( Zuko had caught the way Jet's hands had gone back for his swords, it was a habit that Zuko was guilty of himself. He meets that glare with one of his own, ready to throw the door back in Jet's face and go back to bed. But Zuko doesn't move to do as he was told, not amused or impressed.
And not in the mood to get out of his sleeping clothes. )

Good thing I'm not one of 'em, huh?
[He waits. If he opens his mouth too many times, he's sure the words that escape will become less and less pleasant. But Zuko's stubborn, maybe even as stubborn as the Freedom Fighter himself.
He sucks his teeth and averts his gaze, remaining silent before looking back over to him.] We have a lot to clear up.
Don't tell me your beauty sleep's that important. Or is it the cold that scares you?

( A scowl is shot Jet's way and the door is shoved shut in his face. He's not scared of anything, not if his previous experience in infiltrating the Northern Water Tribe had anything to say about it.
Zuko goes to find his clothes and change, muttering and frowning to himself the entire time. )

[Jet growls then he kind of-- snickers. He folds his arms over his chest and leans against the side of the door frame, leaning close to make sure Zuko hears. BECAUSE HE CARES.]
Dress warm! It's getting pretty cold out!

( The door is yet again yanked open. Not anticipating that Jet would just be chilling there so casually, Zuko bumps into him. There's another annoyed scowl. Zuko rams his shoulder into Jet's as he passes, grumbling: )
I'm a firebender. Or did that happen to slip your mind on your little trip away from home?
( Now it's Zuko's turn to stomp down the stairs. )

[The bump seems to trigger something, or at least make Jet tense. Read: Make him more tense than he already was when he arrived here. The comment leaves him unsettled, too, but he knows better than to charge at him with swords in the house.
Hopefully by the time they got outside, that feeling will have washed away. He follows, his hands in his pockets, a scowl on his face, and his tone curt.]
Isn't much of a reason for you to be living here then, is there?

( Zuko gets outside and stops a few feet away from the front of the house along the path. He doesn't look over at Jet, he waits instead for the other boy to lead the way, answering quietly: )
I owe it to her.

[He's quiet for a few moments and seems to pay Zuko no mind as he starts heading off in the direction opposite to the one he came from. He'd done a lot of exploring, so getting lost wasn't on his list of concerns.
His intention was for Zuko to follow.]
Don't we all?

And... I owe it to you. Something.
( Since Jet's been away, Zuko's had time to reflect on some things. )

What could you owe me?

Zuko still isn't looking at him. He's keeping his eyes fixed to the ground as they continue to walk. )
...Katara told me about what had happened.

Yeah? What'd she say.
[He knows. He's also set on avoiding eye contact, too.]

The last thing I need is pity from a firebender. When I go home, I'll go down for my own reasons. And I won't feel sorry for myself, either.
