The shore

Jessie climbed out of the surf, every muscle in her body was screaming.

She never knew she could hurt this much.

Peter lay a few yards in front of her, on his back gasping for air.

He was in pain.

But not as much as he was going to be in.

She ran at him using the last of her strength and fell on him fists flying.

“You stupid JERK you almost got us killed! What the hell is wrong with you?”

“Me?” peter said trying to grab a fist here and there, “Why didn’t you..”

“Why didn’t I?” Jessie screamed slapping Peter hard and ending his part of the conversation, “I wasn’t the guy swinging backwards bragging about how cool I was and not noticing the GIANT WATERFALL! Was I ?”

Peter rubbed his cheek

“Bitch.”

Jessie eyes went wide.

“Who are you calling a Bitch mister..”

Jessie suddenly stiffened and fell forward, into the sand face first she lay still.

Tink walked up standing on her head, soaking wet her wings limp, electricity crackling around her.

“Hey Tink.” Peter said very matter of factly.

Peter crawled over to Jessie’s prone body a looked at Tink who was now sitting on her head. He sighed.

“Granted, she’s can be a pain in the ass but that really didn’t help.”

Tink stuck her tongue out.

“That’s your answer to everything.” He started looking around, he spotted a tall tree a bit down the way, it had pineapples in it. “Come on.” He said standing up and brushing himself off. “I’m going to move her over by that tree, you go get a pineapple and we’ll bounce it off the back of her head to cover for your little shenanigans.”

Peter picked Jessie up slung her limp body over his shoulder and started down the beach. Tink clung to Jessie’s hair and climbed up her body like a skilled rock climber till she was standing on the small of Jessie back facing Peter and shaking the water off her body.

“Yeah, well, whatever.” Peter replied, “You better dry off fast, we need to cover our.. your tracks. You can’t just go zapping her like that. I mean c’mon tink, think a bit will you?”

Once they got to within the foot of the tree, Peter lay Jessie down so it was behind her, out of her field of vision. He turned her head slightly to the side so she wouldn’t be eating sand.

“Ok let’s go get a Pineapple," Peter said looking up at the tree, “Here we go.” And he started to climb the trunk. Tink climbed on his shoulder. And pointed.

“No that one’s too big. We just want to give her a bump and a sore spot. Not leave her back a grade. I mean it Tinkerbelle, you’ve got anger issues.”

Below them on the beach Jessie quietly mumbled.

“Mom?"
