fuck yeah, we are! go Panthers!
our home stats don't quite measure up, probably because our home ice kinda sucks.
we were joking, earlier in the year, that the Panthers were the best sports franchise in Florida (slim pickin's. i couldn't even watch football), but they're really wonderful lately. this rate, they'll be in the playoffs. and looks like Boston's come off the hangover. it is astonishing how a shitty hockey team can become good in the span of just a few games.
the other day i got inducted into an honor society (and as a result, my grades are falling below the requirements). my mom was so excited in the week prior, because it was a "formal" event and she got to dress me up like a doll. turns out Chuck Taylors are never "formal", no matter how many rhinestones are glued on and so i had to bring out the devil-shoes (whose idea was it to create footwear with a greatly diminished surface area on the sole and that sink in soft ground? they're like uni-cleats!). eventually i got the balance more or less right and i never broke my ankle, nor severed my achilles.
the ceremony itself was stuffy, long, boring, a fire hazard, and, overall, a pain in the ass. but afterwards we got to go to Brass Ring Pub! i can confidently claim to be the most dressy person who has ever clip-clopped into that establishment... but i devoured a bacon cheeseburger and watched the Ultimate Enemies (Pats & Jets) duke it out and it was great to be in a sports bar again (but the Panthers lost that day).
