I jump at any chance to insert geoscience into my daily work, and recently signed myself onto just such a project.
On top of the absolute pleasure of grinding the rust off my mental tools, I've reacquainted myself with a geophysics text I've owned for 6 years but seldom read. This was given to me as a grad student by a very venerable research fellow (one who could, scarily, remember talking to Evelyn Waugh, albeit at a later period in the author's life).
So, so useful, just thumbing through it makes me happy (for both sentimental and utilitarian reasons). Small, profound joys!
*cough*
And still...
