This is Halloween

Halloween is always a meaningful time for me, if nothing else being the opposite holiday to my birthday (Beltaine). Things have been complex leading up to the holiday this year, and I was having a hard time getting in the positive mindset that I typically find myself in at this time, but at the last minute things came together and I had a great evening.

I had reacquainted with my old flame Brooke immediately prior, and along with her and Nicole wound up having a damn fun time. Brooke and I met for drinks Tuesday evening and had a great time in doing so. We trucked around to a few places, mainly R Thomas, over the course of the evening before eventually retiring at her father's condo in Marietta to watch a couple of movies and hash out old times as it were. Wound up sleeping in far too late owing to her dangerously soft bed and lack of alarm clock.

Say what you will about that girl, but she has a sense for aesthetics that I am terribly sympathetic towards.

Rushed out to pick up an air compressor from Kirk, then to lunch with the males of the family unit. From there went on to put together the costumes for the evening.

Unfortunately I didn't actually take a picture of myself with the huge antique scythe I had, but suffice to say it was badass. The body painting took rather a long time, but I was quite pleased with the end result and received a lot of comments while we were out.

We first went to Lenny's for some rock band stuff which was pretty fun despite being extremely crowded (which made carrying a huge antique scythe around a bit tricky...), but we left somewhat chaotically when Nic and Sam went home unexpectedly leaving us there. Nicole's roommate Pat came and picked us up and we headed out to find the next thing.

Nicole had gotten wind of a party at this old masonic meeting house she had been mentioning to me for years so we headed there. I'm not sure what the original role of the place was exactly, but it is a gigantic mansion which is now rented out by the room to various folks. Nicole had been there due to a friend living there, and had mentioned to me a large awesome room, likely used for meetings or rituals. I am not myself a mason, but I have always had a strong sense of legacy and kindred spirit with the movement. We arrived at the house to find it eerily lit but empty and open. We determined that some people were in the back, and Nicole, Brooke and Pat went to address them while I went to look around the house.

Eventually we went up to the temple room and took a few pictures, and at a moment when the resident who had shown us up there went back downstairs, I banished and performed a quick but tight mass of chaos B - which I had been vaguely planning to do at some point anyway as is my tradition, and realized once I got there this was of course the time and place. After this, we decided there was really no reason to stick around so we headed out. After the ritual I was crackling with energy and feeling fucking amazing.

We then went to some crazy swingers club operating as an after party that night. Quite a cool place on the whole, and with the booze and drugs we had brought we had an excellent time. Much pole dancing in about equal portions hot girls and transvestites. I did some goth dancing with my scythe which surprisingly was quite fluid until I bashed myself in the knee with it...

Bonded with Pat discussing our mutual love and loyalty to the ATL, and we acknowledged one another as worthy protectors of her sacred honor. Romped around in a back room with the girls a bit, and then it was time to go.

Ended up back at Nicole's crashing out there in the middle of a very soft sandwich.

All said and done a damn fine evening and a fantastic way to throw down before I leave on my trip.
