I have a Conair Ceramic 2" that I picked up from Sally for about $25 a couple of years ago... that thing rocks, especially since you can adjust the heat setting. If it can straighten my thick-ass, nasty curly hair and make it look good, it can do anything.
I can't even imagine how long it must take you to straighten your thick hair!! It is by no means nasty, though. Unless you have just taken to avoiding showers...
Hun, in the summer heat it's nasty after an hour or so. But it only takes me about 15 or 20 minutes at most to get my hair straight... less if I've slept on it already.
It depends on the day... in the wintertime, it's almost always fine. In the summer, it's usually okay unless it's a -really- humid day or it's obviously going to rain.
