Oh damn it all. This is NOT a D'ni world. There's just no way.
[opens a leather bound book and attempts to press the picture on the page. Nothing happens]
Oh damn.
Oh damndamndamn. Not good. Why can't I link back? Why can't I link!
[drops book and tugs at hair, curling up in a ball where she stands, absolutely freaking out]
((Hi all! =D Say hello to a

Uh, well, this is Central. But it's not the Central you know about, if you're from Amestris. It's some weird vortex place that sucks people in from other worlds.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. Normally I'm tougher than that. It's just the first time I've been away from my Guild in a long time.
Um. 'mafraid I don't know Central, or Amestris. Though that kind of sounds like a D'ni world. But... you said it's a vortex?
[ponders this for a minute, trying to figure out if her touching that unmarked book on that stupid dare is to blame, or something bigger than D'ni Linking Books. Sighing, she dismisses it and holds her hand out]
Well, in any case, I'm Heidi Breda. Nice t' meet ya.

Hmm, well, this version is. Apparently there are normal versions that aren't like this.
*Shakes her hand!*
Nice to meet you, too. I'm Rosa.

Where I come from, there were these people trying to rebuild this civilization that got ruined hundreds of years ago. The original civilization kept peace and order with things called Guilds. There were Guilds for everything, pretty much. So when we began to restore the place, our group decided to do something similar.
[says proudly, putting a thumb to her chest as she puffs it up]
I'm a Cartographer! I'm a certified member of the Guild of Cartographers. ... that means I make maps.
[grins a bit sheepishly at her rather long winded explanation]

Huh. That's a useful skill. Too bad this place is one big loop.

[face falls]
That's... that's a shame.
Is there anyone else here? This seems as dead as any other Linked world I've been too. It would be nice to see some other faces.
And uh... what do you do here, anyway? Since this vortex pulled you in and I can't link out, I can only assume that means being stuck here.

*Frown.*
Linked world? Does that have something to do with alternate universes? And it's kind of quiet here. I don't know where everyone went to.
Me, I work in a pharmacy. It pays the rent, at least.

[utterly confused, lawl]
Er. Well.
[bends to pick up her book, opening it to the page with the picture. It seems to be a photograph of a brightly lit city made mostly of stone and marble, and if one looks close enough they can see that it's not really a photograph, but something else that seems to be the texture of the page it's on. AND the lights seem to be flickering.]
See that? That's D'ni. Or what's left of the city anyway. The people that lived there all those decades ago actually wrote these books, millions of them, that could transport you to the worlds described in them! But you're supposed to be able to go back through another Linking Book, like this one here that should have returned me to D'ni...

Wow, that's bizarre. Maybe it malfunctioned? Have you used it before to get to that D'ni place?

[touches the page again. It kind of hums but nothing happens]
Nothing...
[sighs, tugs on her ponytail]
Right. Anyway. Now what do we do?

Well, if you need a place to stay, there's an inn that offers free room and board. But the innkeeper puts weird-ass stuff in the food sometimes, so it's a trade-off.

Well... I suppose it couldn't be any worse than D'ni'd Eggs. Seriously, those things are disgusting, and hotter than hell to boot.
Rest might be a good idea. I'm feeling a bit off since I arrived.

Well, good luck! Oh, one more thing. Don't be surprised if you see someone who looked exactly like you.

Uhh... wait, what do you mean?
