*this Hughes had been unable to enjoy his birthday on the 28th. He was (and still is) too busy trying to get a durian for his husband.
When looking for one failed, Hughes had no choice but to replicate one with magic.
...this meant having "ingredients" that would recreate the taste, texture and smell of the fruit.
...the smell was the hard part.
You try turning other fruit, custard, rotten meat and compost into something that doesn't taste the way it smells!
...and he had to taste test each and every single one of them.
As you can imagine, the general area he's in...stinks.*
Damnit! There's gotta be a way to make this stuff affect only the smell, not the taste!
