[Pay no mind to this one and his stricken expression. Chalk up another Edward to the tally of poor-sops whom have lost their 'charge'. Whomever he's let slip from his grasp must be important, and a soul he'd searched for long and hard- if his exhaustion, and the way he nearly crumples into an open chair, is any clue.]
[It doesn't take a seasoned man nor one brimming with battle-scars and tales of horror to sense eyes roving over him. And while at times this may be a common practice; considering that people do and have gawked and stared many a times in his life- it wasn't always harmless. In some instances, a look can toll one's doom and destruction- signifying an interest which may be borne of so many things, and all of which end up as disastrous results.
Therefore, you must see the reason behind his original hesitation.
At first Edward cannot make out which this may be, whether a mere irritation or something foreboding. However, a squint and closer inspection via his inclination with a forward lean suggests that the look harbors little along the lines of an undercurrent of wickedness- and likely more annoyance, curiosity and unabashed obnoxiousness.
Most people whom are contemplating slitting you from navel to nose don't make a point of giving you 'the evil eye' beforehand.]

[There's a particular tilt to his mouth after the shock of that nearly cordial retort ebbs away. To be entirely truthful, this one was not only expecting to incite tempers and flare egos- but his aim had unconsciously been a purposeful shot towards rousing them.
Who'd have figured he'd be gifted concern in return?]
I've seen better days.
[There's a gesture of truncation; one halfhearted stricking motion through the air is enough to wordlessly suggest this fellow would rather not unearth the matter further. He was tired of explaining his situation and regurgitating that same old sob story out to every passerby, like a broken record. This one wouldn't know. No one had. So at this point, the man would rather cut off his nose to spite his face and stubbornly refuse to repeat himself once more tonight.
Edwards had a tendency towards that, didn't they?]
*Shrugs slightly. Pretend I put a lot of text here to magnificently describe every slight gesture and faint movement. D:*
You been around here long? I don't know if I've seen you around. Of course, I kind of see my face everywhere I turn these days, so it's impossible to tell which Ed's I know and which Ed's I have yet to accidentally pick a fight with meet.
[Way to sound suspicious and untrustworthy. Then again, his interests were so very narrowed that, truth be told, he had neither the time nor desire to weasel his way into the hearts and homes of any unfamiliar soul here.]
We definitely haven't met however. Suppose I ought to spare you the formal introductions, though.
