*Day Two.
To say Maes was getting anxious was an understatement. One day had been wasted and his second was nearly gone as well. He hadn't found the prince at all. Plenty of men that looked like him, but none of them the prince.
...well...there was the princess but...he didn't want to think about that.
And that wasn't all. One prince look a like that happened to be a doctor had him drink all this bitter medicine in an attempt to restore his voice until Maes managed to convey to him that it was just simply gone and not due to any illness. The taste was still in his mouth. Another miniture prince dressed like a girl got mad at him and slapped him with one of her pigtails. He heard the inn keeper was making a tuna dish for dinner tonight too. Yuck, he hated tuna! People also stared at him strangely, and he thought he heard someone say he smelt like fish. On top of all this, although he'd gotten used to walking, his feet were killing him, as each step he took felt like he was walking on knives.
It was all just too much...
But at least there were some good things. He'd found another merman who he could communicate to through writing and a wizard who looked like the prince he could communicate with too. He'd been given things for his human collection too. He stared intently at the photograph and snow globe he'd received from wizard Roy and the two paper cranes the boy who looked like his brother gave him, thinking about how much better the human world was than that underwater.
He looked out the window. Evening. He was getting hungry and he wasn't about to eat tuna any time soon. Wincing as he stood, he headed for the door and made his way out of the inn. At the very least he could perhaps find a place to catch his own fish...
...a fish that wasn't a tuna of course.*
