So, in accordance with the prophecy interest levels, FMA Ladyfest will have a third year! Sign-ups will open this Friday, June 8.

Here's the timeline:

Friday, June 8: Sign-ups open
Monday, June 18: Sign-ups close
Tuesday, June 26: Assignments are emailed out
Wednesday, August 15: Fics and art due
Wednesday, August 22: Posting begins! And

Pondering the FAQ: your story shouldn't be about a guy, or about a lady's relationship to a guy.

An interpretation question: I shouldn't take this to mean that stories have to be gen (or femslash), right? If we want to request a story that includes a m/f relationship or friendship as part of the story, or a prompt about a character's sexuality that might include het sex in some capacity? It seems like what you're trying to avoid is either straight-up het 'romance,' or stories that are solely focused on a character's POV on a male character, but not to exclude relationships as an aspect of stories. Am I reading that correctly?

Correct, stories don't need to be gen or femslash! m/f relationship, friendship, even on-screen het sex is totally fine. Male characters can certainly get some screen time, too. As you say, what we're trying to avoid is stories that are solely focused on a character's POV on a male character and her thoughts and feelings about that male character.

Like, "Hawkeye will follow Mustang into hell" and "Mustang is a part of Hawkeye's life, every day" and "Hawkeye considers her own guilt and Mustang's to be inextricably shared" are cool. "Hawkeye is sleeping with Mustang," also cool if you and/or your recipient want to go that way! But "Hawkeye muses for 1000 words of internal monologue about Mustang, how awesome Mustang is, how hard Mustang's guilt is for him to bear, how her thoughts about Mustang have and haven't changed since they were younger, etc etc, and that is the entire fic" is not so cool.
