“Little fucker’s costing me an arm and a leg. Dammit, now he wants *alchemy* lessons? Of all the selfish... piece of shit. Work my ass off to feed his stupid face.”
Roy’s father sounds drunk, he’s growling and slurring at the same time.
“Didn’t fucking plan for this. Wasn’t supposed to be like this.”
“He can hear--”
A loud smack, someone clattering to the floor.
“Good! Little bastard should hear how he ruined my life! Supposed to be a famous alchemist by now! Not tied down to some foreign bitch and her whelp! Not my damn fault you got knocked up. Dumb cunt, shoulda aborted him like I told you! Just wanted money... fuck you.”
Roy’s mother is silent. He’s glad. She’s too beautiful to have another black eye.
“Roy!”
He tenses up, stiff against the wall. Oh no. Oh no no.
His father seems so large when he grabs Roy’s collar and yanks him off the floor. “You think you’re better than me?”
His breath reeks and Roy looks away.
“LOOK AT ME!”
He does, and the defiance in his eyes gets him punched in the face. He stares right back, licking the blood from his lips.
“Ruined my life.” He throws Roy down. “Ruined everything.”
He hears his door slam shut, and his mother cry out as he strikes her for good measure. “Whore.”
She screams as he tears her clothes off, and Roy covers his head with a pillow.
He can still hear her.
