Title: Basking in the Glow
Artist: seta_suzume
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: blood/violence, Kimblee being Kimblee
Prompt: An illustration of Kimblee during the Ishval civil war, whilst causing destruction via explosion. Either coloured or black and white is fine; either a rating of PG-13 or R is also fine depending on how violent you want to take the scene.
Disclaimer: I don't own Kimblee, FMA, any of this; I am just a fan.
Notes: Most excellent prompter, your prompt made me want to stretch my bounds and draw something a bit more gory than usual! ...This, however is not it. >_>; If, as a result of that, it doesn't quite float your boat, well, rest assured that I have far from exhausted my interest in this topic and will be playing around with it more in the future (and would be happy to draw something else for you). I really hope you like it anyway.

At first I thought I would do just a single drawing, but later I toyed with the idea of a making a sort of triptych of related illustrations. As you can see, I liked this enough on its own (and couldn't come up with any complementary compositions I cared for), so it's a stand alone. (at, uh, this point- I could always change my mind later...)

And the steps involved, if that kind of thing interests you...

The first sketch I drew, though a bit awkward (I kept drawing back over the lines trying to decide what I liked), was the one I liked the best, composition-wise.

And because, unlike most of the time when I draw for myself, I want to make something as nice as possible when I'm drawing for someone else, I got out my pencils and whipped up this pencil drawing next with some reference assistance from vol. 15.

I was too nervous to draw over the pencil sketch (I liked it and was concerned I would mess it up), so I made a copy, which didn't pick up all the messy lines and lightened most of them, and used three of my art pens (varied sizes) to draw over that.

The final illustration is a mix of crayola markers and prismacolor pencils over the pen drawing.

Some other scribbles I drew while thinking over the initial sketch:
