My original goal with this fic was simply to explore what House might be like if he couldn't remember, and dwell on, the experiences that have shaped his relationships and his outlook on life. But then I realized that I could use his condition as a tool with which to 1) keep a late-in-the-game House/Wilson relationship plausible within the confines of canon thus far and 2) wrap up a horrible season with a happy (at least by Housian standards) ending. Win-win!
Anyway, my beta and I obsessed over this fic for months, I love the way it turned out, I only wish that I had any hope of seeing something like this on the show, and it thrills me to no end when other folks tell me how much they liked it, too.
P.S. House is Wilson's cake. I got that ;).
P.P.S. Glad to hear that you liked the Sherlock Holmes quotes - I'm very fond of them but was afraid they'd be a bit twee for some. And as long as I have (what I think are) interesting ideas, I'll continue to write - I've an appalling lack of self-control in that respect.
