Jinyoung sighed as he cut the stem of another rose and placed it into the arrangement he was currently working on. He had been on his shift for seven hours now and was ready to go home, but since it was Valentine’s season there was no rest for him if he wanted his flower business to thrive. What also made him sigh was that he did not see the cute boy walk by the shop that day. Everyday around midday a young man would walk by the flower shop. He was tall with dark chocolate brown hair. He had cute smiling eyes and a mouth that seemed to be set in a permanent smile. Jinyoung thought he was beautiful and wished that he would come into the shop so he might see him up close. Of course Jinyoung also thought about going outside and waiting for him to walk by, it was usually clockwork and he could just happen to bump into him, but such means were too forward for him, and Jinyoung just waited for that special day when the boy would need a flower.
“Hey! Jinyoung!” Sunwoo, who preferred to be called Baro, Jinyoung’s delivery driver, barked out the greeting while waving his hands in front of Jinyoung’s face, “Quit staring off into space, you’ve been holding that rose up to the scissors for five minutes now.”
Jinyoung looked up at Baro with a start, “Oh, sorry, you’re back already?”
“What were you thinking about with that little smile on your face? You got a date for the holiday?” Baro gave him a playful nudge and a suggestive eyebrow wiggle.
Jinyoung huffed and shook his head, “No, I was just thinking of all the stuff I need to do. And what you need to do, there are have been five more orders placed since you went out for delivery this morning. Think you can get them delivered before close tonight?”
Baro’s shoulders slumped, “But I wanted to eat lunch!”
“You know as well as I do that there isn’t lunch for us this whole week!” Jinyoung sighed, “The orders are in the fridge outback, just print out the invoices.”
Jinyoung turned back to his roses and finally cut the stem of the one he had been holding. He silently reprimanded himself for spacing out during such a busy time and tried to push the thoughts of the chocolate haired boy out of his head.

Gongchan paced back and forth in his small cubicle in the office he worked at. His job was simple and he always got to go to lunch at the same time every day. And every day he would walk down to the diner a couple blocks away and buy a sandwich. Today though he was hesitating from his usual routine. There was something else that made him walk that same route and get that same sandwich every day. Something more than just routine.
Gongchan sighed and grabbed his jacket. He hurriedly put it on and walked quickly to the door. He had wasted half his lunch deliberating his lunch break plans.
“Hey! Gongchan!” Shinwoo stuck his head up over his cubicle wall and waved at Gongchan before he could walk out the door.
Gongchan sighed and turned around, “Yeah?”
“Could you bring me back a Coke?” Shinwoo smiled and asked in a sweet voice that Gongchan assumed was meant to be cute.
“Sure. I’ll be back soon.” He wasted no time and flung open the door and strode out with purpose.
He had been admiring the florist for months now. The first day he had happened to walk by the florist during his first few days at the office, he had caught a glimpse of him. The florist was beautiful; tall, thin, delicate looking, but strong because Gongchan saw him lift heavy bags of potting soil with ease. His hair was long and getting kind of shaggy but was a light fluffy brown color that Gongchan thought was the best ever. Gongchan had yet to see the florist smile but he was sure it would be the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. He wanted to see it, that smile, and every day he tried to work up the courage to turn towards the door as he walked by and open it up. But his courage was lacking. So instead he would go to the diner and eat that sandwich alone while thinking of the florist. He took a different way back to the office daily to avoid having to walk by again; he didn’t want to look like a stalker.
Today though would be different. Gongchan told himself that as he walked up to the door to the florist, this time he turned his body and his hand reached out and grasped the handle to the door. The door felt like it weighed a thousand pounds as he pulled it open.
Gongchan’s eyes went wide as he pulled on the door then descended to the tag above the handle that read ‘Push’ and his face turned bright red. He looked up and met eyes with the florist who was looking out the window with a look of shock on his face. Gongchan couldn’t take it and let go of the door like it was on fire, spinning around, and sprinting off. He was so humiliated. He didn’t know if he could go back again. Maybe he could never walk by the florist again. He ran and let the tears fall.

Jinyoung stared in shock at the doorway which had held the boy he admired. The boy had pulled on the door before running away. Jinyoung was half-way out of his seat before he realized what he was doing. Was he really going to chase after the boy? He had looked hurt and embarrassed when Jinyoung looked at him while he pulled on the door instead of pushed.
In a moment of what Jinyoung would consider insanity, he grabbed the bouquet of roses he had been working on and ran out the door, calling over his shoulder to Baro to watch the shop for a few minutes. Once on the sidewalk Jinyoung looked both ways and saw the boy, still running as hard as he could, several blocks away. Jinyoung himself was not a very good runner but he put his all into catching up, the boy would tire soon he was sure. But the space between the two of them did not seem to narrow but instead got wider and wider. Jinyoung was panting and slowing after just a few blocks, he wondered to himself how much further the boy could possibly run when the boy turned around and caught sight of Jinyoung behind him. Not looking forward caused him to stumble and he crashed to the ground. Jinyoung put on another burst of energy and ran up to him.

Gongchan had no energy left and no tears to cry, he half-heartedly pushed himself up off the ground, his palms were scraped raw from the fall but other than that he was fine. His humiliation was complete but despite that he could not help but feel excited, the florist was running after him. The florist was carrying a bunch of flowers. The florist was panting and hovering over him.
The florist was speaking to him and holding a hand out, “Are you okay?”
Gongchan took the proffered hand and felt a tingle of energy or something fly through him, “Yeah, I’m fine. Thank you.”
The florist held out the flowers, which were roses, to Gongchan, “I’m….uh…these…here!”
Gongchan took the flowers and laughed, the florist was nervous, “I’m Gongchan.”
The florist smiled, “I’m Jinyoung.”
Gongchan had been right, the smile was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Jinyoung’s face had lit up. The lines around his mouth turned up and his eyes crinkled into crescents. Everything about Jinyoung seemed to shine when he smiled and Gongchan bathed himself in that radiance.
