So I'm in the middle of replacing a faulty power outlet in my living room (which took way longer than it should of) when the doorbell rings. I'm thinking it's probably just some dumb solicitor, and am debating whether to answer it since my UPS battery is draining and the daylight that I'm using to do the electrical work is fading. I decide to answer the door, and it's someone from the county assessor's office. He only has two questions for me: did they sell the units in my townhome community that face the alley for a higher price than the ones that face the busy street, and he wanted to confirm the number of bedrooms and bathrooms that I had. I wonder if by telling him that yes, indeed the units facing the alley did go for more since they are quieter, that I made my assessed value and thus my property taxes rise. I guess time will tell...
