my letter to mr. tax-more-and-be-happy

Mr. Sims,

I am writing to urge you strongly to reconsider the property tax hike for new and expanded passenger ferry routes. With the possible exception of the Vashon-Seattle run, these do not seem to be viable alternatives to existing modes of transportation for those routes, and will most likely result in very low ridership. These ferries burn a lot of diesel, enough so that it might actually be worse for than environment than if everyone took their own car, and definitely results in more fossil fuels being burned. Why can't we focus instead on emission-free modes of transit such as light rail and streetcars that actually get enough ridership to justify their use?

Sincerely,
Evan Nelson
Seattle

And he thought it would be a waste of money to run light rail to Federal Way? Admittedly this isn't $15 billion, but still!
