I just discovered that Car Talk is available on podcast form (for free) on Itunes! They used to charge for it for some reason, which made no sense since online streaming has always been free. Finally, I can listen without being tethered to the computer or having to be up at whatever ungodly hour they actually air it.
Oh and I have to comment on one argument used in favor of adding the sales tax to online purchases. It's been said that it's better for the environment to shop online since you aren't burning gasoline to get to the store, and moneywise you might come out ahead since sales tax may be less than the cost of driving and/or parking. Does no one realize that it also takes gas for the big man in brown to bring your packages to you? Not to mention the extra trees that are killed for the additional packaging required to ship the item. I do a lot of my shopping when I'm already driving somewhere, so the extra gas is negligible, and the only places I shop that charge for parking are downtown, and there's the bus for that. If the tax goes into effect, I'll just stop buying stuff online unless that's the only option or if it's a fantastic deal. Even then I could always ship it to my brother's address in Oregon.
