"It's always been you," Arthur said to the kiss on Merlin's brow, This is such a lovely promise.

"I don't need you like that," Merlin said, his voice low and cautious. Arthur understood.

"I know. And neither do I, but I still want you." I like that they have this in common, that they would make due without the romantic part of their relationship if they needed to, as long as they were together otherwise.
