Romance - Active or Passive?

Jun 21, 2008 02:01

Almost all full-fledged romances can be sorted into two broad categories: active and passive.

- PASSIVE ROMANCE -
Descriptive Terms: Passionate, elusive, emotional, longing, intricate, secretive, poetic.
Symbol: The Rose (beautiful and inspiring, but also thorny and fragile)
Classic Example: Scarlet and Rhett (Gone with the Wind)
Most Common Origin: Desire
Common Complications: Third parties, fear of commitment, excessive drama.
Motto: "If you know you're going to fall, plan ahead."

- ACTIVE ROMANCE -
Descriptive Terms: Honest, adventurous, clumsy, vibrant, supportive, chummy, unpredictable.
Symbol: The Stone (somewhat simple and unremarkable, but difficult to damage)
Classic Example: Indiana Jones and Marian (Raiders of the Lost Ark)
Most Common Origin: Friendship
Common Complications: Excessive honesty, unforseen regrets, relationship blunders.
Motto: "Falling down just gives you a reason to stand up."

Which one do you think you fall under? (I'm in an active romance, myself)
