Daily Tidbits: Nov 7-13

Monday, 11/7

My alarm clock didn’t go off this morning because I forgot to set it yesterday. Luckily my internal “oh shit” alarm went off 25 minutes later, so I rolled out of bed only slightly later than if I had hit the snooze button two times.

I went to the dentist this afternoon.

Tuesday, 11/8

Today is Election Day. The way this is playing out is surreal in the way that I imagine it would be if you returned home and your house was engulfed in flames. A small part of me still hopes I’ll wake up tomorrow and the news media will be like, “Haha, we were just fucking with you!”

Wednesday, 11/9

Nothing unique happened today, but it felt gloomy and surreal. To continue with the house fire metaphor, it was that feeling of knowing that something horrible and irreversible has happened, but the reality of it hasn’t had time to sink in. No one talked about the election at work, but facebook was ablaze. When Trump first won the republican primaries, I thought he would be our next president (it reminded me of how everyone thought there was no way in hell Bush would win back in 2000, and we all remember how that turned out). However, I developed a false sense of security from recent polls and living in an urban bubble of Hillary supporters, so I was not mentally prepared at all for how the election played out. Now I’m genuinely anxious that we’re all going to die in a nuclear war.

Thursday, 11/10

I got a haircut tonight, but that’s part of my monthly routine, so I don’t know if it really qualifies. Other than that, today was basically just more election doom and gloom, with people on social media trying slightly harder to stay positive.

Friday, 11/11

I had the day off today. I didn’t do anything interesting. I basically had what I call a “train wreck day”, which is when I get about 10 hours of sleep after getting 4-5 hours all week, which causes me to wake up with a headache and be in a stupor all day. On train wreck days, I usually just lounge around and be worthless, which is exactly what happened today.

Saturday, 11/12

I went to see Dr. Strange with Eric and Julia, and then I went to Britt and Bejal’s baby shower.
___

Sunday, 11/13

Another day of lounging around and doing absolutely nothing noteworthy or productive.
___

After four weeks of keeping daily notes, I think I’m going to call it quits. I was hoping this might help me see that not every day is the same, but it has actually just reiterated that my life is indeed boring and repetitive.
