Character Name: Koriand’r or Starfire
Canon source: New Teen Titans
Personality:
Kory is very defined by the culture of her home planet. Tameranians are emotional creatures that never hold back in anything. Rather than being reserved or withdrawn, she feels things whole heartedly and openly. It’s easy to tell when she’s sad, happy or angry, the emotions nearly radiate off her. She’s been on Earth long enough to acknowledge that sometimes the intensity of her emotions put people off, but she isn’t really sure what to do about it. It’s not in her nature to hold back, despite the amount of restraint she shows when her new found friends explain to her that killing one’s enemies on Earth is generally frowned upon.
Kory gives love and affection freely, always friendly and warm to those around her. To her teammates especially, she’s utterly devoted. There is very little distinction between “friend” and “lover” to her, though if she is in a relationship, she’s terribly monogamous (at least until another “friend/lover” brings up to potential for a threesome, but as that didn’t go quite the way she had hoped last time she had proposed it, she may not be quite as quick to jump to that solution in the future. Probably). She is not a terribly mistrustful creature by nature, despite her violent history, more inclined to make friends with strangers than to show any form of caution. Some of that is blind confidence in her abilities. When she was younger, it bordered on arrogance, particularly when she developed the ability to use her starbolts, but as she grew and matured, it became tempered with wisdom. She’s capable of recognizing the majority of her limitations now, realizing that she relies too heavily on the starbolts and taking a crash course in hand to hand combat with Robin. She’s aware of exactly how much she needs to hold back, if not exactly how much power she can put out.
She tends to be optimistic, always looking for the bright side. A lot of truly terrible and horrific things have happened in Kory’s life and it’s as much because of that rather than in spite of it that she’s able to look for the sunny side and look past dark times to the coming day. For her, she has truly been at her lowest and she is completely aware of it. Whatever might follow, no matter how painful and terrible, can never measure up to the time she was less than an individual and nothing more than a slave and an experiment. The flip side of all her warmth and optimism is she’s still a warrior at heart. She hates as whole deeply as she loves and on her initial arrival on Earth was quick to lash out at an enemy. As mentioned previously, she has indeed learned how to control her strength, but not her emotions. While Koriand’r is generally a very sensible fighter, when pushed to the breaking point, she reacts instinctively and at full power. There are a few things that can actually trigger blind violence, the most immediate being the sensation of being physically trapped or violently restrained, a byproduct of her past as a P.O.W.
A lot of Earthling mannerisms confuse and occasionally bother her. The concept of modesty escapes her completely. As far as she’s been able to determine, human physiology is very similar to Tameranian and has only the two kinds of genitals, with very little variation in between. Since everyone is walking about with pretty much the same equipment, she doesn’t understand why it’s such a scandal to be seen without a bit of cloth on. Unless it’s winter and then she is all for layering. She’s never been able to understand people’s reluctance to open up and speak freely and the human tendency to suppress emotion tends to be the one that bothers her the most. She can’t understand why humans insist on doing things that hurt themselves in the long run, particularly in regards to those she’s close to. Because of her species, Kory is especially empathic and has spent a lot of her time on Earth picking away at the emotions of those around her until she is satisfactorily intune with them. Whether this was a good thing or not is up to debate. It’s become nothing short of a never ending source of worry and because of that, she’s developed a habit of poking and prodding at people’s insecurities and psychosis, demanding explanation, generally voiced with a great deal of concern because really, what’s wrong why are you doing this it’s sad.
Despite the differences and frustrations, she does genuinely loves her new home and the people she meets and is insatiably curious. She wants to learn more and is genuinely interested in people. She’s still working on the concept of personal boundaries. When Kory meets someone and takes a liking to them, it’s especially difficult for her to remember not to engage in a lot of casual touching right off the bat. Tameranians are an intensely physical race, if anything Kory has to consciously make the decision not to touch a person’s hand or shoulder or give them a hug when they look sad. No one’s explained satisfactorily (in her mind) that while yes learning a completely new language by kissing someone is a VERY handy trick, it’s not really proper.

What are some of your plans for this character in their new environment?
There is not nearly enough hugs and sudden awkward nudity moments in this game and I fully intend to rectify this immediately. Plus crossover kink, but you know this already.
First Person Journal Sample:
[voice]
[The voice is hesitant, carefully testing the recording.]
Hello? Hello, hello hello!
[There’s a twinge of a smile in that last “hello,” broadcasting loud and clear over the recording.]
I don’t know where I am and I’m looking for my friends. I’m trying very hard to be calm. I know it is not good to just start punching people, but. [Her voice turns towards a growl, the anger rippling out.] It’s a bit difficult. I don’t want to be in a cage.
[ She takes a moment to breathe.] I am called Starfire.
Third Person Sample:
She really hasn’t the slightest idea how Raven or Donna or... X’hal, anyone can stand it. She can feel the need to lash out like a physical itch just under her skin. To scream and bite and claw and fight her way out until she’s airborne and away and free. There’s a fine line between her control and the moment where she loses it, Kory can feel herself right on that edge and fights to keep the balance.
At least it’s something to fight. She remembers the meditation techniques Dick had shown her. Even breathing, eyes closed. It helped that she was in the air, lighting briefly on the edge of one rooftop before lifting up into the air again. She wanted to lose herself in the clouds, but it was unwise. She was already taking too many risks allowing herself to be so exposed in enemy territory. Koriand’r shook her head, letting herself delight in the play of a cross breeze through her hair and across her shoulders. Not enemy territory, just somewhere different. Somewhere that certainly seemed to be Earth, but... wasn’t? She was positive that Gar was here at least, but she hadn’t the faintest idea where, nor where to even begin to search for him.
She hoped he responded to the post soon. She didn’t like being separated from her family like this. It brought back entirely too many painful memories.
