A neighbor stopped by to chat last night while I was watering two of my tomato plants (the other wasn't as dry and got watered this morning*)... First she said how nice they looked.
Then she started asking questions about what I used.
Miracle grow moisture control potting mix.
But Dr. Oz says to use... (some vegetable MG potting soil.
Well, I did fertilize with the tomato MG. I told her that my biggest problem is the pots are too small. The big pot shouldn't have 2 plants in it and the other two are too small.
She's surprised no-one takes the tomatoes. I say that I've got more then I can use, so that wouldn't be a problem.
I should put them behind my fence. (under my two huge trees?)
I then offered her a couple ripe tomatoes and she won't take them because I didn't use EXACTLY what Dr. Oz said to do. (what's Dr. Oz talking about plants for anyway?)
At least she didn't have her yappy dog with her.
*I've been sticking my finger in the soil to try to avoid over-watering. Poor tomatoes are still splitting and there's some heat damage to some leaves & tomatoes. I know how the leaves got damaged.. I was out there watering on an overcast morning and because it was overcast I wasn't as careful about not getting the leaves wet as I usually am when I water mid-morning and then... the sun came out. :P
The damaged tomatoes might have happened after an afternoon sprinkle that ended in sun. Not sure. It's only a couple tomatoes.
(one un-intended consequence of this tomato thing is that I haven't swept my yard in a long time. I don't do much yard work, and now it's all devoted to those stupid plants! I picked up the big bits after the Dereeco, but I never swept the whole yard. It's a good thing I'm not feeding the birds right now!)
